The routing is to shave off a little weight (since I'm not losing any weight these days... the board needs to).  It's not that much... but you can tell all the cutting I've done when holding just the decks.  Not losing much strength since it still has 3 full-ply "beams" of strength in the more critical places.

The fish tail held coping well on tail taps.  And frontside rock'n'rolls are happening on the mini-ramp (a steeper nose would help more).

I've always said that boy ain't hooked up right.  He does some wild schtuff on a board.

Jay, it seems to me that most of the weight on 8s is in trucks and wheels.  Cut all the wood you want, but you're still gonna have a heavy board.  I think it's time for some lightweight plastic trucks and lightweight cored wheels.  Did Gullwing make any plastic trucks that would be small enough for the 8?

Maybe some small ACS Lites? I don't remember how small the LItes were, though.

THAT's the bottom line.

Are the inside wheels at all critical for grip?  If not, maybe they could be a different material altogether.  Urethane is dense and relatively heavy, no?

By the way, I love your deck design.  Very innovative and functional.  And the skating is insane!
