Methodair1,
I've said it before, you are the ultimate walking skateboard encyclopedia and a down right epic Bro. I see that blue one and kick myself for letting an opportunity go by! Did they do any others that were transitional? I've seen some Variflex decks with the foil tail logo and wasn't sure if they were of the same time frame.

HaHa! Thanks Bosstiki! But nah I'm no walking encyclopedia~ I just remember what I had interest in and what I want to remember but I forget the rest...like I don't think I remember the quadratic equation...haha! Nah but seriously there are guys that are waaay more informative than I am~ Oh and to answer your question, as I remember, at that period, there weren't any others as most of the riders went to ride for other teams except Losi as it was his family's company~ A little later after his last Variskin deck made by boulder, his version of the first NON-Variskin deck was the stinger/wing shaped deck that came in either wood stain, white, black and a couple other colors but the most common was the wood stain model and some of those decks still had the little square Variflex stickers at the bottom~ And also some of the cheesey Variflexes that came out around 85-86 had the chrome square stickers on the bottom also~

Hey Hike4it, can you post a close up picture of the wheel-wells?
Oh and your Variflex are pretty cool too, methodair.
Now back to the Orton wheel-wells,... Love to see that Verti-Lam wood work up close.

HaHa no worries Parkrider! Indeed that Orton is SUWEETT!!!! And HUPHLUNGPU yes, the Orton model was made my Boulder also with the same Variskin/"TUFSKIN" Bottoms as with all the Variflexes, Kryptonics, and DT's of that era! The orton model has the same color skin as the red Shogo's did!

Jeff, cool you got that deck from the wildman.
So sad he had to sell it though.
Please take good care of it. |
