I've been thinking for a while that we need an Alva corner here.  (If that's a faux pas, somebody please tell me).  Then, with Skate78 resurrecting that Alva reissue thread (whatever happened to Iowaskater?), I figured it was time to start the thread.  Here are my two.  I'm afraid these are both creatures of eBay.  The one I had back in the day is long gone.

30" deck (no wheel wells) with minty small pivot Tracker Fultracks, OG Tracker 9/16" Space Pads and Kryptonics red 65MM wheels (green 60MM on standby for the total Alva effect).

27" deck with minty small pivot Tracker Midtracks, Alva flatback wheels and NOS Sea Breeze tail skid.

I bought these to ride and they are a gas to tool around on.  I sure would love one of those tri logo pigs though.

Yes, I'm full on for an Alva corner!  Love Alva.  Sure, he was my original idol (and was for everyone i knew in the late 70's), but style...man, he's got it in bucketfulls.  Just watch old footage from that era and he makes everyone else looks like bulls in a china shop.  Smooth.  And let's not forget the pictures.  NOBODY took better pictures in the late 70's than Tony...he just LOOKED badass, whether it be a skateshot or an advertisement.  Tony's the king in my book.  One of skateboarding's best ambassadors.  He's really proved it in the last few years too.  He's grown into his 40's very gracefully.

Like Friedman said, "Tony Alva is the most important skateboarder ever."  I agree 100%!

Just a question...is the reissue 27" deck EXACTLY the same as the og.  Seems like from my memory the graphic on the bottom isn't the same size....maybe I'm wrong.

Your right the logo on the re-issue is smaller.

Nice Tony.  I knew you'd be all over this.  Is yours the 8" x 30" with wheel wells?  Almost looks like the 10" compared to mine.  If yours is the 8" x 30", then it looks like the wheel welled deck was a bit wider in the tail.  Or is that just an illusion?

And the top fade logo looks a lot different too.

(Mitchz's reissue).  It's just red to orange, no yellow.

About those reissues, I thought the limited decks were solid (?) oak and the others were maple ply.  Were the oak decks oak ply or solid oak?

Well it actually measures 30 x 8.5 at its widest point, but it probably is referred to as an 30 x 8. The tail measures 6.5 across at its furthest extremity, and it does look a little wider than the no wheelwell version.

Now that's the deck I would like to have....The OG 10" Alva was the deck I always wanted as a kid. The cost of them in good condition these days can be frightening.

Tony,

My 30" deck measures 8 1/8" wide at its widest point and only 5 1/2" wide at the tail.  The 27" deck measures 7 3/4" wide at its widest point.

Still would love to see a reissue of that fat pig with the 3 Alva logos on the bottom...10x30 I guess it is?  Anyway, that was actually after my time if you can believe that!

...and also an "updated" version for grown men 11x33 please.

Alva's still the king.

Would it be OK to post anything Alva here; or is this thread only for originals?

I liked the original Alva logo style, it was a much more flowing design and had what I think of now as a 70's feel to it.
Now it seems a bit bloated and like it's been traced a hundred times.
New on top and original on the bottom.

What does AWA stand for anyway?

Bernie
