So, I've finally found out what happened to ALL of the surviving Alva decks fro the 70s.  You Bogarts are hogging them all LOL!  About 10 years ago I picked up a reissue, never willing to spend the $300+ that original decks were pulling down.  Last week I finally pulled the trigger on a very well loved and abused blue label with Gull Wing Pros and OJs.  I swapped out some bigger OJs, moving the smaller ones to a Kicktail deck.
OG and reissue side by side.. probably for the 2193704190367th time in this thread..

Anyone know where to get Alva cut grip tape without buying another re-issue or should I just leave it as is?

Rest of the family.. 5 Alva decks total.

NoSwitch, awesome presentation. LEAVE GRIP AS IT IS per your question...
Like many on BDS, been there dun that, 9 yrs ago in my case.... LOL
Ride the re-issue, Display the vintage.... [thumb]

Displayed hanging vintage Alva... Bot in 2003-ish....
OG to deck; Tracker Trucks, early issued OJ wheels (earlier were brownish color vs later more orange color per Mo)......
Look reddish in picture but its a photo color fo-paw....

Re-issue Alva purchased in approx. 2005? Early in re-issue era. Loved the various Dogtown re-issues!
Very solid, ride smooth, were well made....IMHO as could hold old vintage man weight....
Added vintage name re-issue Bennett Trucks/ 3DM wheels and stained deck
to give semi OG pantina!!! I KNOW wrong thread, but following the discussion[wink]

^^^Nice, ya the OJs on the Alva are ones I've had awhile, brownish red and like 70mm.  It came with smaller, like 60mm orange OJs.  I moved those to a fiberflex kicktail with a lower stack height Tracker Mids and shorter wheelbase.  Everything I have is ridable, and only a couple are really nice enough to NEVER ride.  I did ride most of them regularly when more active.  But, the stuff on the bottom and floor is mostly active.  The Lance Mountain was almost completely stripped.  I did it in re did and added all new stickers, rails, nose and tail guard.  Stuff on the top shelf is mostly out of rotation now, but I do occasionally take one for a ride around the block, but no shooters out of the deep end LOL..

This will likely be seen as blasphemy here but I decided to mess with the OG graphics since they were mostly gone anyway.  I ordered the die cut leftovers SoCal is selling and they turned out to be pretty close to the same size.  I sprayed them blue and laid them carefully over what was left on the deck lining it up best I could.  I didn't press them down very hard though so they can probably carefully be removed without removing the remaining spots of paint if a heat gun is also utilized down the road.  In fact, I actually peeled the a off and reapplied it a little farther right of the v after shooting the photo.

I like it better like this..

I found these Alva wheels on a vintage no name deck along with some gullwings , from my research they look to be late 70's circa.

Skateboarder February 1977 Alva feature.  I also found the People Magazine with the Alva article.. Should have it in my hands in a couple days..

Fixed.. Alva's first EPIC Skateboarder Interview belongs in the ALVA dedicated thread. Ban me if you disagree.  Trust me, I won't lose any sleep over it.

Either me or my friend had this back in the day.  We would take turns buying them and sharing them every other month.  But, we cut them up and used the ads to make our own stickers.  Not many skate shop options in central Minnesota back then and ordering stuff via telephone and money orders took months..  So, we improvised... and wrecked the magazines hahahaha.

NoSwitch keep your re-issue skateboards in the Re-Issue Thread, this thread is for Orignal Equipment Only.

When you get asked to do something by pm for good reason don't just think you can fuck me off, learn how to use the forum and where to post correctly.
