You would think, but sadly, no.  Though not as bad as DaBearsitis, Vikingitis is still typically fatal.

doubtful...4 Super Bowl losses, followed by a 30 yr drought, and I'm still waiting. This could be the year!
(still think they were the best team in the league in'98)

YEAH, FOOTBALL!!! I was always a LEEDS UNITED fan when I lived in England. I don't think they're in the premier league anymore, though. oh...you meant American football. never mind.

I just got back from the Packer game.  It's just not the same without Favre around.  There was a guy there wearing a Favre Jets jersey with a bunch of protest signs.  I was glad to bear one of his signs that read "The Three Stooges Must Go" on one side and "Worst Trade Ever" on the other side.  I'll be watching the Jets games with a lot of interest this year.

Well Chris, I enjoyed watching Brett play as much as the next guy.  In fact, more than most, but of course still less than others.  HOWEVER, you know as well as I that the "will Brett retire" saga has become as much a sure thing in spring as the snow itself - and you can not let one player dictate THEN CHANGE and re-change your preperation for the season.

As painful as it is for most Packer fans, I think it was the right decision, and I'm sure it was a difficult one.  Favre messed up by flip-flopping and I DO suspect Teddie boy may have lied to Brett as has been alleged, but to let your emotions dictate what you are going to do - snubbing your fans and tarnishing your legacy in the process, is NOT a professional thing to do.

Somebody tried convincing me that this was comparable to the Junior Seau issue when he "retired" than headed to NE to get a ring.  It isn't at all... Seau was indeed a whore, but Brett - well, he has become a self centered bitch and I hate the fact that he is forcing  me to explain to my son, a boy who literally grew up watching him and ADORES him, the why of why he is now in a Jets uniform.  Brett has become (or always was?) the very thing he has vowed to never be.

Again, I enjoyed watching him play, and will miss it.  Nobody plays with the same amount of boyish enthusiasm that he does... BUT, I am a Packer fan first and football is a team sport.

I think Brett forgot that along the way.

That's well put and you have every reason to feel that way about Favre.  My brother and I are divided on this and yesterday he told me almost the exact same thing as you.  I am disgusted with Favre as well.  That whole "will Brett come back this season?" thing was lame.  But, if your MVP quarterback finally says he wants to play for you after coming off of one of the best seasons of his career, even if he has jerked you around, I think you (the Packers) should let him.  And why would you offer a guy with Farve's kind of money more money to stay retired?  That was a no-class move which made Murphy look pretty  bad, IMO.  Favre didn't need or want the money.  He just wanted to play.  But, I think Ted's ego got in the way of that.

I realize it was just a pre-season game last night and we only saw the starting offense for one play.  But, if we're going to have a whole season of McCarthy-style small ball, it's going to be boring season.  How many short passes did the Packers throw last night for little or no gain?  I know those short passes help set up bigger plays, but there wasn't much in the big play department either (the last TD pass with no time on the clock at the end of the game was cool, though).  At least Favre kept it interesting.  But, admittedly, I won't miss his interceptionitis.  We'll see if Rodgers can do better in that department.

It's all about The STEELERS!!! The Cowboys still won't win a playoff game. Romo will crumble under the pressure again, and don't forget he'll lose his legs because of Jessica.

I am a LIONS fan. Poor me
Undefeated pre-season and the season starts and I have my Lions back, at least they are consistent.
