Not disagreeing with anything you said Giants.  However, I do find it basically the height of hypocrisy that someone who was well known for flipping decks for significant profit for years now seeks to be the moral compass of BDS.  Most of the well known inner circle members got the decks that no one else had a shot at and many of those guys flipped those fuckers in hours for double to triple (and sometimes more) than what they paid Wes.  No one batted an eye.

Look, I don't know what Chris paid for this deck.  I've followed the transactions, at least those that are public in these forums, and know approximately what the decks have gone for.  I've bought and sold two Gamblers for more than that.  Never for profit, but to rotate the display and hopefully break even.  Stuart (Fuzzlord) mentioned previously that he paid $850 for the yellow one.  Everyone is entitled to their opinion about the price he paid, but he felt it was worth that.  So, this price is overblown to you?  That's your opinion and that's perfectly fine.  Based on other transactions and recent ones, I simply have a different opinion.  If someone wants the deck, they're welcome to contact redman and discuss.  I think we can all at least agree on that.

A well respected member, and one I've done a number of transactions with, a year or two ago sold a number of nice decks.  His asking price for several of the car paints was way over $600 (one as high as $950) and not a single person publicly gave him shit about it.  He sold a 3 Skulls CP in the range of $600 as he and the buyer felt that was the right price for that particular version of the deck.  A different colorway of that deck was offered here a few months back for under $300 with not a single taker.  And the sale I'm referencing was way after the economic downturn.  I personally respect members who at the very least attempt to maintain values for some of the decks that don't come up for sale very often.  And also agree about eBay, but BDS decks have most often done way better here than there due to the interaction of members with Wes and the respect we have for him and his art.

There is little doubt that there are much fewer buyers here. That's not an epiphany.  This is just the latest example of a deck that would have previously been snapped up in minutes or hours languishing for months.  I don't think it's much of a leap of understanding to know that some members are disappointed to see that.  But again, I'm not selling for profit.  And for anyone here who thinks I am (hey dickhead Tony), once he gets his head out of his ass, he can continue fucking himself.

It's not a Gold 1934 Double Eagle, it's a skateboard.

Seriously, WTF??  This is what you're going with?  Now the basis for the value of a deck is a completely irrelevant comparison to a rare gold coin?  A $20 coin that last sold at auction for almost $7M.  That's baffling beyond words and quite frankly, beneath you Giants. Talk about a non sequitur.

By the way, to say it's just a skateboard is a direct or indirect shot at Wes.  Here is "just a skateboard":
[Old-School]

What we're discussing is a work of art created by an artist, whose medium of choice is a skateboard.  The value of said art is subject to opinion and interpretation.

And additionally, about the rare 1934 coin, who gives a fuck?  I don't collect coins.  If you need help finding relevant sites, just Google "coin collectors".

Meanwhile back at the ranch......
My .02.  Art appreciates.  Or should if it is well regarded and has history.  I believe that we have both of those factors here.
Art is also subjective.
I know what I paid for my Gambler, and I know what it would take to purchase it from me.  The secondary point may be considered foolish by some, but since I enjoy it, that $ figure would be high.  But that's on me.  So I keep it.
This will eventually be sold for what the seller deems is a fair price for him.  If it not sold, then a threshold for the buyer has been set.
Every buyer has a threshold.  When the universe aligns, maybe never, and all the owners have a like threshold, then a price will stabilize.  I guess we are not here with this particular piece yet.
That being said, my threshold is higher, and that is all that matters in my world.

David you raise a valid point in my view, and that is, art appreciates.

I never sell any of my decks, partly because it costs me virtually the same again to ship them down here as to buy them (and once I exchange for the Aussie peso as well). Plus, I like collecting them. However, in a few years I wonder if prices will be restored and then increase. Might take a few years, but I think that is likely to happen. Depends if you need the money urgently I suppose if you have to sell at the bottom of the cycle.

Recently I started looking at a collectors car that I first looked at 5 years ago - prices have nearly tripled in that time. I was shocked. A bit different but, you get the gist.

FWIW, I love that Gambler, but at the moment it is just out of reach.
