Anything cheap.  Rons & Bones are cool!  There is some skate shop that sells some no name brand made in china bearing in Seoul Korea for .75 cents each.  I usually ride them because cheap & fast.  Don't clean or lubricate, justr thrash em and buy more at that price

Thanks guys! I missed the early posts because I was actually working.......The fastest bearings I own are either bones swiss (not the ones that cost like $70) and bones reds. I have never tried rons but now I will. My father is retired from the machine tool business and he was telling me that the shields on the bearings can slow them down. Of course it would allow grit to get in there. He also said there were (are) bearings that the whole assembly is ceramic but they cost like $30.00 per bearing! Maybe the guy with the super pig with the gold plated trucks could run those!

But all ceramic bearings are actually made to work in hjigh temp or corrosive environments.
They are actually slower than normal bearings.

In my experience Ron's are really fast but because they have actually larger tolerances. If you grab one new bearing it has already some play built in.
This allows the wheel whole "system" (bearing-spacer-bearing) to align to its best position without any eccentric force "binding" them up, like a poor hangar face or a (slightly) bent axle.

Instead, other "ABEC 7" bearing, will have
a) tighter tolerances that will limit its play and make the bearing "bind"
b) heavier grease that could prove beneficial if riding in the rain
c) shields or seals that rub, creating a little more friction.

FWIW, I bought a couple sets of $10 Pleasure Tools bearings (ABEC 7) and rode them in different wheels (to see the effect of the wheel only) and also cleaned them (from new) of their grease and put some thinner teflon oil.

Result: much, much faster, and they still have the tight seals, but the effect of the grease was understood

Ron's

I fuckin' broke my wrist last November at GreenSkateLab in D.C. because another bearing brand's bearings broke down in my wheels.
I was humpin' towards the big wall and the ENTIRE bearing just busted apart in the wheel. I still have what was left. 3 balls, the shell, and the outer rim.
Everything else went kapoot...along with my wrist.

Got some Ron's at Christmas. Yep....they rock.

I cant even believe anyone is asking this. Rockin Rons all the way. These are the hands down best bearing ever created. Ron is the RADDEST dude ever! He's way radder than you, me or anyone else and because of that his bearings are the absolute topps. He also plays in a band too, so not only is he rad, he rocks harder than anyone, ever.

Stay on course keithdp, this is a thread intended for the discussion of skateboard bearings, and which ones are the best. This is not a discussion regarding gastronomical treasures.

you are talkin' to a man
who puts bearings in his salad
to surprise his guests.

The great italian futurist Marinetti
had entire dinner parties
to celebrate the wonders of speed
and the revolving revolution of industry.
Marinetti and the italians
made necklaces and ear rings
of bearings to decorate the female flesh......
and put bearings and bullets
IN the salad to keep the guests awake!

I want the recipe, do you have one or are you just hot doggin'
hahahaha.........K
