No. It's not a Big Foot II.

SABERTOOTH IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT DECK

I'm currently setting up a "Jay Adams Big Foot II" , I've got some Indy 215"s on their way w/a set of mellow yellow soft pour dub cons coming also w/ powell peralta swiss bearings , and Khiro reds on the bottom of my Indy 215's & blue's on the top. but now I'm wondering How & What type of grip tape jobs some of you have done on these 12" beasts!!, any help would be greatly appreciated for this new member to this great site!!

There is die cut grip tape that was made for the first run of the Big Foot II that is perfect for that deck.  It has the BDS cutout so you can have the prism tape underlay like the OG DTS decks.  Unused die cut grip for the BFII is going to be hard to find, but there's probably a piece or two out there that someone might be willing to sell.  If you can't get the die cut, you can make your own.  I have done that for a Shogo Longboard and also a Sims Andrecht reproduction.  You can do that by tracing the outline of the deck to card stock, cutting out your template and then use a compass with about a 1/4" gap and retrace the template and cut out again so you have the nice reveal all the way around.  To do it right, you have to be careful and patient and use sharp Exacto blades when cutting out the grip tape.  You also have to be mindful that decks are not perfectly symmetrical, so you should mark your template's "top side" and then put that side down on your grip tape when you trace the template to the backing of the grip tape.  When applying die cut grip, you also have to be really careful if you want to get it on there straight and have a uniform reveal all the way around the edges of the deck.  Some people use the Windex trick for this and you can look that up if you're curious.  If you're creative (and precise about placement), you can do a cutout of "JA" in the middle in the style of the DT letters that Wes did for DT and BDS.

I might still have the backing from the die cut grip that you could use as a template.  If I don't have it, I'm sure another member does.

I have one of the JA Big Foot IIs that I got from one of the stellar members here, but not going to set it up.  But, if I had one of the JA riders, I would set it up with those light blue Alva conicals, which would look killer on that deck.

By the way, with soft wheels, like the Mellows, and that wide, flat deck, you are going to need a lot of riser to avoid wheel bite, maybe even a full inch.

Thanks for all the tips! If anyone does happen to have any of those BDS II die cut grip tape jobs for my deck I would always be willing to take it off your hands for some bones!! And yes I was already thinking about having to put a full one inch riser for those wheels I have coming!! Any other tips would be greatly appreciated!!

The BDS lettering stencil is posted on the forum. Search Custom Grip Tape thread, it’s probably in there. Just print out cut out and trace in the backing paper of your grip tape. Don’t forget to reverse the letters before you trace them. It’s not difficult.

does anyone out there have a Big Foot ll that they would like to sell??? i'm considering not putting my set up on my Jay Adams Big Foot ll , do to the fact that I might want to use it as a wall hanger, not positive yet but I am leaning that direction, so if any of you out there have a Big Foot ll that you'd want to sell hit me up and include a photo of the deck bottom and top please. like I said my minds not made up yet , but that's the way I'm leaning as off now. and does anyone know where I could get a square of rainbow tape??? , I havn't looked in the buy , sell, or trade thread yet, so lets hope there's some in there for sale.
Later Boys!!

Thanks Eric, apart from a few bits from the 1970’s which were mine already the collection has been built since 2004. Take it one deck at a time and as you can afford it, don’t stretch yourself financially, that way you get to keep what you buy.
