I strip them back with sand paper, then use an oil/varnish mix. Gives a good result - a varnish can look a bit heavy or thick.

Woah! Nice line-up, especially that white lightning with the gullwings.
I've not heard of that before. What oil and varnish do you use? What's the mix ratio? Do you apply with a cloth like oil or with a brush like varnish? So many questions? What's the meaning of life?[rofl]

WL is 30" rarity.

Most hardware stores sell it pre-mixed. Just make sure you get the clear stuff, rather than anything stained.

Go on, give us a brand name, so we know what to look for. That finish is really good. I for one would like to give it a try, maybe on a bow instead of using Tru-oil[wink]

I'll have to dig it out, have no idea where it is. Long time ago. It's all to do with the masterful brush strokes anyway. [wink]

Nope. The trucks and wheels went well with it but aren’t worth much. A£182 for that was mad money.

i can't recall seeing another one on Ebay. What about the Waimea and Sunset?

[1hL8sNa]

And in other news, the Poole skateshop stuff is still going. NOS Hobie, UFO, Belair, Tunnel wheels, Hijackers and California Slalom trucks, and the rest. They must have had ridiculous amounts lying around at the end of the 70s.

Never even knew there were a Waimea and Sunset. Never seen a Benjyflex, and have been after a Lollipop for some time, but seems unlikely.

Interesting the setup in those ads seem a bit higher standard than what was on the one that just sold.

Wow 606, I've never seen that ad before, what was that from?
Looks like benjy added their own sticker/brand to some of their imports maybe?
Conspiracy theory ahoy👍

I can't remember where the advert came from. Some random Ebay post possibly. If I see something reasonably interesting I always save it, and currently have 4,500 photographs in my skateboards album in iPhoto. Here's the full page. Think it could be a trade show or distribution flyer? Shows the knee-pads, a set of which were on Ebay a couple of weeks ago.

The Waimea and Sunset boards are just budget boards thrown in the middle of an add for some Benjyboards. Nothing to do with Benjyboards company, they were probably just distributors and added them to their line up as a cheaper option.

That ad's been around for a while, posted on this thread a few times. It was early BB stuff, timed around the release of the White Lightning.
