The only parks I have skated in the Chicago area are northeast of Aurora - Wilson on the lake just north of downtown and Northbrook.  Wilson has kind of a peanut with an extra pocket in the shallow.  So, kind of a clover, but not exactly.  The pool is about 10" deep and has steel coping, I think.  They also have a good sized flow bowl.  Northbrook has a deep bowl, but the concrete in that bowl was in pretty rough shape when I was there.  It's deep and pretty gnarly.  The flow area there is just weird.  It's almost impossible to find a line where you can keep your speed.

If you have a little more time to travel, you can go straight north to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.  They have a good sized flow bowl and a street area.  I like the bowl at Lake Geneva, but don't like the obstacle they put in the middle of the claim shell.  You pretty much have to carve over it in order to use it.  My balls aren't that big, so I just avoid that feature in the bowl.

If you want to make the trip to Milwaukee, I'd be happy to show you around.  And, if you go to Lake Geneva, I might be able to get a crew to meet you.

Looks like Aurora has a skate plaza and parks near Aurora just have ramps.

If you go the southern route, you could hit Wheeling, Centerville, Fort Wayne or Kokomo on the way.  I've been to the last three.  Centerville has a really nice pool with a roll in and also a fun flow bowl.  Fort Wayne is virtually all flow bowls, but I think it's fun.  Kokomo has some deep, challenging stuff.  Transitions are quick, so you have to be on your game there.

Google Maps indicates Lake Geneva is an hour and a half from Aurora.

And, yes, LG is a nice park.  My only beef with it is the obstacle in the middle of this pocket which is dangerously close to the line I would take through it.

Not a problem for this grom on the Traveling Carpaint though.

Pool at Wilson in Chicago.  Concrete in that park is on the rough side, but not as rough as the deep bowl at Northbrook.

Picture always better with TA in it.

Deep bowl at Northbrook.  When I was there, there were fairly large patches on the deep end wall where the top layer of concrete had fallen off and the composite beneath was exposed.  You could still skate over those areas, but looked pretty sketchy to me.
