&70's,... Kent was a shredder. I think, if I can remember...he localed upland??

@Cupcake, welcome to BDS, WHO ARE YOU??? I never stopped skating and knew every skater you named. Your idea that Gullwing was the standard of the industry is kinda a stretch. All those guys were truly good skaters. But, well, I guess you have to be true to your school of skate friends. By the way I just saw Flogging Molly here in Jax. Fl.

Well Cupcake, you are obviously someone who knows the industry. I never said that Gullwing was not an advanced copany. And by the way do you even know what a Gullwing Pheonix is?

We "Old Guys" were around when Gullwing put out their 1st truck, so, Have a little respect, uh?

All of those guys that you mentioned were consumate pros, but were you just a filmer, or did you actually master the board? You sound like you have a lot of skate lore to share, stay around, and oh, not all of us have deep pockets and collect stuff. We hang out here to spread the stoke of the BullDog, and skating.

well cupcake in a heated session like the protec jam it is look what I can do,but when its in a different situation there all about having fun and not what trick you can do,having skated with Bucky to josh Marlow to Kerry getz they are stoked on skating and as long as your having fun it doesn't matter if you

can do 10ft airs or frontside grinds.

Natty -
Don't get me wrong. I am one of those lame guys that wants to be the Man. Like sweet STEVE Flemmish OLSON Said in the Dog Town documentary: If your going to be The Man "YOU BETTER BE ABLE TO BACK THAT UP! " I can't back anything up. That is when it comes to skateboarding. That's why I have devoted the rest of my career to being a fan. Remember this: Guys like Bob Burnquist & D.Way can't be the Man without Fans like me. I'm sorry to kick you around in front of every one Here, But this is how It works: I'm probably one of the top Ten Fans of skateboarding,..........Maybe even top 5. Sorry, I'm down for this sport.

I think I can actually back that up.

Thanks for posting that footage from the Turf. It stoked me out. Steve Silisian was Bens Side-kick(you can see him for a second in that Video). He was the Man.

Skateboarding is a personal sport. Personally I could give a fuck whether you rip or not or if your freinds do. What matters is that your having fun. That's what matters in the end. It sounds like you've let your age and the pro-bro-ho thing burn you out. Sad.

AMEN!!

I don't give two shits about what anybody else is doing at the park or ramp when I am there..

Don't get me wrong, I am stoked they are there ripping it up but it has nothing to do with me!

In a park full of people I am there alone, my head is clear and I enjoy the sites and sounds..

For me skating has nothing to do with the Pros making the long dollar but everything to do with the Benders and old fucks out there just rolling!

I skate because i can, no other reason.

@ cupcake

Dahmer R.I.P.s

My brother had Phoenix trucks on his Fibreflex Teamrider for a short time back in the day and HATED them.  He was so happy to ditch them for a set of Bennett Pros.  Mr. Bennett says Bennetts are the world's finest and that settles it for me.

My brother still rides these black plastic trucks from the 80s or 90s.

Are these the plastic Gullwings you're talking about?  (By the way, he is skating in the Turf tribute clover pool at 4Seasons in Milwaukee.  It is not very much much like the one at the Turf, but still a really good clover pool).

the trucks ben skates are just like sidewinders but there a little bit wider and made out of mag. they grind anything.they seemed to hold up better then tracker mag.

Thanks Natty.  He talked about both the plastic and the mag.  I edited my post to specify the plastic.

Sorry, but here's some more Surfin' Turf memorbilia.

Dude, you are so harsh. You come off as a name-dropping idiot. We are plenty happy around here without you trying to bring everyone down with your so "I was just off the chain, that I had to quit because the grim reeper was standing on the coping!!"

Why don't you just tuck YOUR knee and your BALLS!
