Sometime around 1976 at Lipps in El Paso, TX

Also in El Paso, TX, around 1978 on a homemade deck at one of our two skateparks in town. I think it was Desert Surf.

Yeah, I'm digging that "Z-Tex" part myself !! I wonder why I have never seen that before ??
I mean, you remember all the DogTown style ripoffs,...ie, Fog Town, Hog Town....

That shot at "Lipps", it almost looks like a skatepark that was imitating a drainage ditch combo. Nice Tailtap BTW !!!

Really some great shots here in this thread. Someone nudge Colin, and tell him to post up !!

Wes,...do you have a concept on what this picture is worth?
 To most, not much.
But to us, it is the Canyon Pool. as seen in the mags.
It was after producing a one pound skateboard deck. And hanging a brick from it for a rocker. (Why not duct tape it on the bottom of it to  a rocking chair, and tell the old people to rock the hell out of it?)
I see from the shot angle that you are simply "hauling ass"........ board hidden under your body.
It was the "let's do lunch" mtg. with the two guys that started DogtownSkateboards.
You LOOK like you are having fun,....do you remember the stoke you were feeling? I mean, c'mon, skating in pools was just starting to be heard about....how did you feel, when you saw these proofs ??(Besides the OBVIOUS thrill of seeing yourself in your favorite # 42 jersey that is,...)

My 2nd summer vacation in Florida....The kid at the park had this amazingly wide Z-Pig....It as a whopping 9" wide...I acted as if I was Lonnie toft,.."I bet I can ride it that wide..." and commenced to do kickturn after kickturn on this wildly wide skateboard until I lost control, and spun out.
It wasn't a pretty sight. The skate had a ding right at 2:00 on the nose....(No, literally 2:00...like a clock?? ...Yeah, right there,...on the NOSE....)

I remember him running out of the shop and saying something about "wood-putty, and sanding,...and...."

Me and my "puny 27" Alva...

But, regardless,...I knew to myself, that I was "Cool,...."

Hey Wes, did the guy on the longboard make any carves? I had visions of Rick when I saw that.

Also, nice surf rig at the end, reminds me of high school.

edit: I think Wes' Canyon pool shots of he and Jim are winning so far.

You DT guys had a style all your own. (No, I'm not kissing ass!) I have seen alot of video of guys skating pools at the same era as you guys, and the style is completely different.
You guys skated "Knock-kneed", and with your feet really close together.

Now that I see video footage , I see why the stillshots came out looking like they did.

I got to ask,...what in the hell were you guys talking about in the shallow, while waiting for your turn...?
