Easy.

Now this I have to try!

I've seen this done with automotive decals and it does work great.  Never thought about it for grip before.  Hmmmm. . .

Hey Tuk,

Funny you should mention that about the car decals..

We used the same principal for the large car decals

in the auto body shop....

like the wood grain decals on the Jeeps...but we used

soap and water and then squeeze out the water from

with a rubber squeegee until we removed all the air bubbles

and water.....

works great.....you have a small window to get it into

position until it dries....

Tmdjj5 (Trevor) showed me how he just places the tape on the deck (as straight as you can ... I find eye-balling it works well enough) and sticking it right on uncut (i.e. - as a big rectangle). Crease the tape a little over the edges of the board, then run a file around the edge to wear through the tape and just rip it off. Works perfectly ... maybe everybody else already knew about this, but it was news to me!

the discussion and methods helps complete the setup archive guys.
I had forgotten the specifics of the 'merlin method' fantastik!

PH, the windex is a great [and new] one, thanks a million for that lead.
We use windex to clean stainless steel [no scratching] evaporates almost immediately, harmless and lubricates, makes sense.

Hey, Pacific, I live in the mission................
where is the tradiciones dia muertos guadalupe skull madona that you posted.

I have got to go see it.

thanks, kp

This is great info on laying the grip. Where is a good source for foil? Preferably in the SF Bay Area.

Thanks!

Any art supply store should have them in squares about 10" x 10" I think.

Good luck,

Frank

PS, I never read about the windex until now, I'll have to try that myself.

Or try a hunting/fishing store. Prism tape is used to make fishing lures.

I run a sign shop....so here's another tip.....after you line up the tape and apply the foil....instead of slitting the backing paper first.....turn the grip tape back upon itself like previously shown and peel the backing paper from the front of the tape.....then slice it with scissors close to the bottom edge....you could also use a 2" strip of tap crosswise across the board rather than using the electrical...makes it harder to shift.....use a good quality tape....just a thought.....

better than windex...use isopropyl alcohol and water.....using more alcohol than water.,.. we use a 3 to one ratio...and a couple of drops of johnson's baby shampoo....shake well....the alcohol evaporates much faster than the water....so don't screw around....put it in a misting bottle....one squirt....it's a small piece....hope this helps....

As I peel back and stick the tape, I roll with trucks and wheels - no air bubbles.

Hi, how can I cut the BDS on to my new grip? I already can cut. But it is that I do not hae a template. I am from Malaysia, which is just below thailand, and I want the BDS design on my deck. Can somebody send me the template? And my deck is only 7.5" so....

Thanks,
