Cool. One of our members has made some really cool rails out of cutting boards. Island skater is his name.

Chopping boards are the best, so easy to cut with hand tools and shape with files, sandpaper etc. Liking the do it your self approach[thumb]
There was an article about making rails from off-cuts of yellow gas pipes back in the late 80's here in the UK, don't have that issue of Skateboard! mag though...

I did this years ago. Then I gave up on tail savers as they made the board hang in to a bowl when you set your tail to drop in.

Thanks to all. Yes, I really need a new sanding belt on the belt sander. Melting more than cutting... You know... Went slow and all was well. Cutting plexiglass is similar in that way too.

I went back and put a 3rd hole in the middle of the 2 already there. USPS didn't make it with the sex bolts yesterday.

TonyB, I did put a 45* cut on the leading in edge to reduce the hangup tendencies, hopefully. Non of my other decks have one, but, I'd like to save this one.

Found that thread. Those turned out great! I've used wood for rails long ago, but that was nice.

I made a replacement tailbone for my Mullen chessboard resto, didn't use any power tools because of the melting issue, worked a treat and progress was fast, even took off the textured surface on both faces. Here's my high tech set up, the wood guard helps to keep everything straight and flat and the sandpaper is stuck with double sided tape:

Oh yeah! Looking good Gibbs! We seem to make do with whatever we have on had to get the job done, that's for sure.

The sex bolts came in yesterday, so, got mine mounted this evening. Looks very similar to above.^^^[biggrin]
