i see pics of a lot of guys riding black death dubcons on indies with cone bushings...i had to stop that cone bushing stuff and switch to the hybrid baseplate...the good ol feel of the dbl barrel bushings made a difference...
i no longer felt like a washer producing machine and was able to start controlling my fakie on both sides...i keep hearing about how fast they are...but does that hold true on wood/fiber ramps too? i skated a lot of gyros and thought they were by far faster than anything else, even today my regyros are the fastest on concrete, but when they get wet; watch out!
i like the treads of the dubcon on the wood ramps for grip an if they get wet i'll skate em off on the dry concrete, but they don't seem faster than my gyros...how does the black death dubcon compare to the gryo and will it iceskate like the gyro when it gets any water under it...i like speed but it's useless if i can't control it...i already know about the k-9, never skated a ultrathane...concrete taste bad, it hurts and i hate walking around with rub marks all over me...i found that faster is better, but i still lag in footspeed and i compensate with lil tweeks here n there until.

tamarac; it's really fast...but ah...there's a lot to be said for etiquette...there's a lot a dropnpoppers n i guess they're not used to someone acually trying to carve and fakie lol...and yeah, for anyone not familiar with piccolo, it's mostly wood/fiber nn it gets used by skate/inliners/bmxers so it has certain characteristic divets from each...
i like it because i can go there early an get three or four hours in before the heat n usually skate two of those hours alone...i throw on some plasmatics or ministry or geen jello; make a stance on the big one in the back...instant vacation from wife an kid...only thing better is the hottub after.

If you think Tamarac is decent, you're going to love Ramp48.  Nice and roomy with a good mix of street and tranny.  You should check it out.  If you go there at opening time on Saturdays you'll have the park all to yourself for $5 before the teens start rolling in at noon.  Check this vid of my son and I having some fun.

You're right, that park is run by calvary chapel, but being a christian outfit they welcome all sinners...

Kleinz,

If the tattoo-covered park manager hasnt t scared away the little ones (and their parents) yet, I don;t know what will.  Don't for a moment think of that park as a holy place of reunion.  Nobody will preach to you, and they don't turn anyone away for their appearance.  Oh, and Thursday nights its old-school nights.  Over 21 only.

The city-run skatepark in Naples should give you hours of the best concrete within 100 miles.

And yes, the local skateboard scene sucks... (I've bought from the guy in the porn shop - he gets all his stuff straight from China)

one of the reasons we moved here was because i used to read in skateboarder about the stuff going on down here at the time...so, yeah i was abit surprised...when we first got here there were still some shops scattered about...i'm glad for what parks remain...i tried to convince my wife to buy a foreclosure in sw ranches that is being sandbagged by a broken inground pool...it's way more house than we could ever use even if we have another kid...but that pool, for the right person it's insta park...just for shits an giggles i called some places...it'd cost somewhere around 16k to fix for swimming n somewhere around 2k to skate; cuz it has shifted some.

i think the 'guys' name is billy...and i think he is a member here...he's alright, but like ya said; i want to support my local scene and he only has so much and is offern only so much...not what i need...i have no problem with cali...but we need a stronger scene here too...i had no qualms throwing down for a membership@ piccolo... if nothing else to help hire a carpenter to rebuild the place(which they have now done/doing...and have posted a listing for another carpenter.).
skating, i have learned is just like surfing, in the way it comes an goes out kinda like the waves. i was lucky to catch it twice...hopefully there will be enough of me left for when the next wave comes up over the break.
