Early June there was a week long windswell that culminated in a weekend where everywhere from the Ranch to Silver Strand was breaking like it was winter. 6-5-12Sland.jpg
6-6-12. Photo by Seth DeRoulet. This is the spot I grew up surfing, my homeland. Windswell early in the week had this place going so hollow, it was small, but throwing, shallow, and treacherous. I'm on a 7'1" Kennedy early 70's pintail.

The weekend swell was like winter, or just one of the better windswells I'd seen as far as making most spots break. Crowds were light, people were spread out.

This is at my favorite point. I'm riding a 1975 7'4" Andreini winged singlefin diamond tail. The board was working so good.

It's interesting how I got the last four pics. A friend of mine was at work and his coworker was showing him some pics that a friend of his took over the weekend. The photographer was down at the beach visiting friends and wasn't there to shoot surfing, but snapped a few cause he saw such pretty waves. My buddy recognized me and took pics of the computer screen. He doesn't know the photographer directly and I still haven't got a hold of the originals.  Still, nice to have memories of such a rad swell.

After seeing the title of the thread, I was wondering why the pics weren't posted sooner.  Guess you explained that.  Cool story.

Love the top shot.  Thanks for the stoke.

Looks pretty good for windswell. You've got a nice quiver of old boards, too!

Yeah Cenan. That swell was awesome, the way it rolled down the coast and just lit up spots. My local spot in Carlsbad was the best I've ever seen it.

Nic pics...
