I also did very well for myself in the past eight years, if I don't count the U.S. Constitution.
Congratulations on your salon and new home. Chances are they are worth less today than when you purchased them. Don't take my word. Check here:
Now let us take a look at the numbers:
County
Orange
Purchase price 2006 $625,000
Market value 2007 $573,750
-8.2%
Riverside
Purchase price 2006 $412,136
Market value 2007 $350,000
-15.1%
San Bernardino
Purchase price 2006 $365,000
Market value 2007 $330,000
-9.6%
San Diego
Purchase price 2006 $490,000
Market value 2007 $460,000
-6.1%
Ventura
Purchase price 2006 $590,000
Market value 2007 $535,000
-9.3%
SoCal
Purchase price 2006 $482,750
Market value 2007 $444,000
-8.0%
These are generous numbers.

The Have Nots didn't participate in the largest transfer of wealth in U.S. history,
790 billion dollars from the middle class to the 1% upper class. The very same criminals that participated in the largest bank heist in history. This is Our tax dollars to Nationalize US Banks ( Socialism? )

Yup, I'd say things are pretty good in my backyard too.

So if the house bought last year or a few years ago has dropped in market value, then cant you get your property taxes lowered as well?

No, market value is complete different than assessed value.  Assessed value is a real, yet completely made up number that assessors use to stick things, un-lubed mind you, up your rectum - if you are required to pay property tax of course.

Now those numbers don't all reflect whats go on in every "neck of the woods".
Prices here in the South West end of Torrance/Redondo Beach area, CA (for you tourist that is LA County) is actually on the rise.
I was talking' to the Pimp the other day and he had mentioned a comp in the area which is close to the basic layout we are living in and it's up almost 20% over the market price of say January of 2006 .

Housing is gonna come back sooner than most think, but a deep, quick slump in the market will hit hard in the next 2 years due to the bulk of 5/1 ARM's that are coming due that were originated in 2004-05.
The come back will be more for people with real money not the n*@#@r rich.
No 20% down, no 2 years reserves in savings, no 30 year conventional, no soup for you!
It's 1975 all over again for lending.

I think you miss the whole "point" of America. It's not up to anyone to make my life better......except ME. This great country offers me an equal chance to become a success or, a failure. My future is shaped by my actions, I work hard and try to make smart decisions (still working on that one). I don't need social programs or wealth redistribution.

I can't speak for anyone else here but, I am better off today than I was 8 years ago.

How will McCain make my life better? First of all, it's not up to anyone but me to make my life better. But hopefully he'll make wise decisions regarding foreign and domestic policies, then in return I get to do whatever I want with my life and money. Sounds like a fair deal to me. Personally, if you believe any of these guys are going to save you or make your life better, be prepared to be more disillusioned then you already are.

Y'all thought I meant welfare or a handout.

Nah.

Our country's economic situation as a whole 8 years ago vs now.

If you were forced to sell your house now (and I too put 20% down on a 30 yr fixed - 5.75% - so that ain't brain surgery) you'd lose money.

If the gov't has nothing to do with where you are financially then why does it matter who you vote for ?

With the current financial system and the socialism that Bush started by bailing out your heroes, the inept Wall St CEO's, 2 things are NOT gonna happen no matter who gets elected :

1.) National health care. NOT gonna happen.

2.) Extension of the Bush tax cuts. NOT gonna happen.

So why are you voting for who you're voting for ?

Ah, it doesn't matter anyway -you'll all still be millionaires regardless.

Because you work hard.

And if someone is in a lesser situation financially it's just because they're lazy and they don't work hard enough.

Right...

I don't believe him one bit, he owns stocks in 3 gas corporations. He will not be as loyal as a slave would, obama just will do all. Schools for you kids, building more work and he won't die from a heart attach, he has a chance of being like martin luthur king though... Then it will be Hillory.. as president. get ready for a crazy year....
