Very well written and convincing might I add.

Thats one way to look at it, and sounds good if you don't realize the socioeconomic climate during those times. I thought historically Republicans always spent more, especially after coming into office after a democrat, who's good at spending his allowance but neglecting the security of the country (you know hostages, and our shit getting bombed around the world with little or no consequence) isn't in my opinion in the best interest of the the people, neither is driving out businesses and jobs by applying economic pressure and unreasonable regulations to put the importance of environment over livelihood. They might not run up a deficit but when was the last time the National Debt was paid on (which Japan owns most of )...............NEVER?

Sure there are some good things to thank the Dems for, but not for the organized crime Unions, and I don't know too many professional people or laborers who work a 40 hour week, lets see.... the Race card, the ACLU, Political correctness.... nothing more than strategies to maintain racism so the dems can count on the minority vote.

Oligarchy, wouldn't that be like the Hollywood and Media Superstars in America?

I'd really like to see a 3rd political party, more centered to kinda keep the checks and balances in politics.

How does a ex-pat living in Japan come up with this propoganda? You talk about socioeconomic climate, what do you know about that really. Please articulate on the socioeconomic climate of today. I'm curious what you know about global demographic trends and how that is changing cultures, societies and business?  Information technology has leveled playing fields unlike any other wave of innovation ever and it's not going to stop. Africa and the Middle East have the largest populations of new boardband users. You knock our media and pop culture, but that's what the kids in China, Syria, and Angola want.

Clearly oil is something we should reduece our reliance on. Why is it that you can't fathom how the billions we send to the middle east in return for oil would help American entrpenuers and familes if we spent that money on alternative fuels and green technologies at companies that employ people right here in the USA? Talk about trickle down.....

What's your position about China and it's middle class that's growing faster than Americas? What about India's middle class?  Americas technological leadership is slipping. I see more and more competition from foreign software companies every year that compete in areas where America had dominated for years. How will spending billions in Iraq solve the educational challegnes in America so we can compete with China and India in the future? the old military industrial complex models don;t work anymore, automation killed Rosie the riviters job, and what's left is outsourced to factories offshore that can produce it for less becuase there manufacturing proceses are toxic and the workers are paid less. Don't forget the tax breaks the military industrial complex get that reduce tax revenues that pay for infrastruture right here in the USA. Roise the riviter gets fucked out of a job and she watches her kids get screwed too.

Classic old skool style fear mongering when you throw out that oldie but goodie "the Iran hostage crisis" like it was Jimmy Carter's fault..... How can you know that? All this BS about strategies to maintain racism. Again how can you know that? How does an ex pat living in Japan understand all this about America?

You're right, I've been an ex-pat in Japan for over a year now, I live in the least technologically advanced country in Asia as far as information and alternative fuel sources are concerned as well as the country with the least stable economy. We are completely unaware of what is going on in our neighboring countries like China and Korea as well as the rest of Asia. My only source of information on America and the rest of world is by talking to the U.S. servicemen who are stationed here to protect this country.

Sorry for my ignorance, I'm just a simple rice farmer, but perhaps if some of you were smart enough to make the rest of the World believe you support the President, the Military and their actions it would deter further conflict so more funding could go into education and technologies once the country appears to be unified again.

An honest and humble answer from you Island. Yeah I can second the stuff about Japan being in a bubble, whenever we visit my mom-in-law , I'm struck by the fact that Japan, for all its global engagement trade-wise, is still profoundly sequestered from larger events in the world,at least from the media's p.o.v. Many young people are well traveled however and usually curious. But outside the bigger cities, things are pretty isolated. Not too many gaijin around... Sorry for the highjack of the Obama thread.

FYI: Outside of the US Japan spends more money on information technology then any other country.

Thank you, now will stop spewing you liberal rhetoric?

BTW, Japan is also the second largest economy in the world, has a declining population growth, and utilizes more industrial robotics than any other country.

Well you didn't answer my questions. You skated around them. However you've proven my point. So I''m standing by my sentitment that you are a hell of fine skateboarder and a brillant propoganda spinmaster.

FYI: Outside of the US Japan spends more money on information technology then any other country.

Thank you, now will stop spewing you liberal rhetoric?

BTW, Japan is also the second largest economy in the world, has a declining population growth, and utilizes more industrial robotics than any other country.

WE ARE DOOMED!
Just wanted to add to the carnage.

me too.

Dems AND Reps SUCK. Blindly following EITHER of them is a huge dis-service to this country.

Bravo, a true American that can see beyond the two Dynasties.

Good to know there's a few more out there.

Gets to be a cold place that people really think either is the way and became so polarized and think there isn't any hope left in America.

Agreed - to certain extent.

At the 2004 election there was a clear choice.

We saw what the first 4 years of "the boy who couldn't please his father" got us but unfortunately the Dems put up an incompetent candidate and and badly run campaign.

One difference between the parties is the EPA.

The Democrats actually think it should exist.

For the last 8 years it basically hasn't.

Christy Todd Whitman, a long-time Republican hack, was put in charge of it and bailed after a couple years because she was undermined at every turn by the White House.

That's where we really need to swing back more correctly - traditional checks and balance between the 3 branches.

Cheney put all the power in the Executive branch for the last 8 years and the nation cared not one bit.

How all you Obama-haters feel right now is how I felt for 8 fucking years.

It sucks.

Get used to it...

I don't see how the current finical situation is a direct result of a Republican president with a majority share of Congress wasn't in control.

I find Democrats run in various strata much like Republicans. Various beliefs, common misconceptions, ignorance and all from the people we elect or want our votes. It's more self imporatance since the great age of statesmen. It's ideals and religious fervor over reason and compassionate logic.

However I've yet to see a potential candidate for a just past election and a future election as Ron Paul.

In a nation that has such deep emotions, misconceptions and total ignorance can effect both sides I see nothing in either recent candidate that showed half the promise.

I cannot continue to prosper, live in a world where a candidate regurgitates, beguiles(either left or right) the people in the do anything, say nothing tangible race to the white house.

I'm critical of Obama and McCain. In Obama's case, it's him, he's a fabrication of the modern age. People wanted in-touch finger on the pulse...they got it. McCain had an abundance of out of step spin doctors, svengali's and myth makers because he couldn't run a dirty campaign as accused recently.

I just see greedy men, idealistic men, noble men. Some corrupted by self identity, others ablaze in passion.

God bless America, let rationality ring from sea to shinning sea.

I now must go to sleep and wrap myself in the flag. It's cozy that way.

Ron Paul did the same thing that Ross Perot did :

Made people feel uncomfortable by speaking the truth and/or saying common-sense realities.

Also made folks uncomfortable by saying that a lot of problem solving was gonna involve that grey area between Republican and Democrats.

(a MODERATE position !)

The parties don't much like moderates and the media doesn't either.

But also, both Perot and Ron Paul have that part of their brain that is bat-shit crazy...

That can be off-putting.

Agree.

Ross, major disaster with an outsider view so his views where obvious.

Ron Paul actually is in Government. Ideas are not crazy, Obama is just reusing ideas abandoned, shelf life expired from previous eras in building a resume of possible failure.

No change between McCain/Obama, and up till the last debate they said nearly the same things.

The centrist is not the middle of the road, it;s the path of reason and examination with repose. We changed it since Ross attempted to split the vote and be 3rd party vote waster.

Some of the most intellegent, bright realist that defected from both parties have joined the Ron Paul cause without Ron Paul writing 2 biographies to sell himself.

I'd really like to see a 3rd political party, more centered to kinda keep the checks and balances in politics.                                                                                                                       I don't have time for a lengthy reply, but where he says that dems walk away when we get blown up, WRONG!!!  See, that is classic conservative propaganda, which is blame your enemy of doing exactly the bad thing YOU are doing.  In reality, when the  200 American Marines were tragically BLOWN UP AND KILLED it was Saint Ronny who was president.  Boy, I bet he went over there and kicked some ass, eh?  WRONG!!  He turned tail and bravely ran away, just like Sir Robin!  And when that @#$*&^*&^%$#@ Bastard Osama Bin Bus.....er, a, I mean Laden crashed airliners into our American buildings killing THOUSANDS of civillians, then made video tapes bragging about it, I bet Bush went out there and got him quick, eh?  WRONG!!@!  Oh but wait, wasn't the World Trade Center attacked once before, only weeks into his administrations taking office so Clinton must have let those bad guys get away hah?...WRONG.....The Clinton Administration was in charge when the bad guys were quickly apprehended and they are STILL ROTTING IN PRISON!!      As for your other points, I know plenty of successfull people that work "only" forty hours a week, and get paid overtime for more.  It's actually the American way.  And we working Americans then have time to come home and be with our families(what could be a more important family value than that, having TIME to spend with your family AFTER bringing home the bacon?), coach baseball or soccer, mow the lawn, work in the garage to come up with more innovations that the slick business people can then steal from us and  sell to the Japanese and Chinese so they can make a bundle.  Hey, but be a conservative, they like to talk macho patriotism instead of bread and butter patriotism.  Hey, gotta go, was longer than I meant to be but my wife of 25 years (another family value that many Repub leaders can't seam to get) is calling me to dinner.......later all, Anton
