In the shot above with the early version of the Big Foot deck, was it laminated
or were you still making them out of solid with a wedge glued on the tail?

Solid & you can see the front bottom wheel well had a chunk knocked off, wide laminates blanks were just starting to be more of the norm but still hard to get, Then TA hooked Me up with a Stack so the ones in my Quiver shot were laminated blanks I cut & Sanded.......

Photo's Glen E....

I was riding the board on the right when Ray & I started Gonzos....

Then the 12"....

Yea the wheels & Trucks were Catching up to the Boards at that time....

man, that brings back memories and good times with friends hittin' all the hills and banks around my little town in Texas. we'd ride all day and then ck out whoever had the latest issue of Skatboarder! We lived for those latest issues with all you guys in them, thinking how anything was possible after seeing those pics and reading every word of the stories about DT boys. It was really like mythical giants in our eyes. We would try and copy what the pictures looked like. Thanks for all the inspiration Wes!
I had that Triplane and wish I had never let it go....but that's why I'm back trying to get that feeling again-got to get that stoke on!!!

I think this could be used as the start of your Wikipedia entry - seeing there is still nothing there.

Yeah. I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but the history of this stuff
deserves to be treated with some depth.  The mass culture only begins
to look at it when big money gets involved. They make the link to surfing,
but a lot of the evolutionary steps get lost, especially to how skating culture
developed in its own right.
I just can't believe that one of these design magazines hasn't taken the time
to do a piece on Wes' stuff, from early DT to present, with the different stages
along the way. From boards for vert with wheel wells to wider shapes and then
concave, it offers a nice history of how good design emerges, along with
the reciprocal relation with local culture.  I guess with mass culture being
so dominant, work like Wes' becomes a welcome counterpart, cause it still
conveys a sense of authentic human experience.
