just got a flat pig and i'm looking for set up advice. it's going to be a rider. parks, bowls. i'm more of a carver than a slasher. i've seen boards set up with different truck widths. how does this change the ride? what's the best width?

149s with Dubcons brings the wheels right to the edge of the deck in the back.  I like the way it feels with that setup.  I have never tried a staggered setup, so I can't comment on that.  But with the short wheelbase of this deck, it should turn in fast enough without a staggered setup.

I found riding this flat little board an adventure on transitions, which didn't end too well for me.  It was really more the fault of the rider than the board though.  I was just starting back after 20+ years off.  I think Pacific Hessian has ridden the flat pig quite a lot in pools and does seem to like it for that.

Hey guys, I've looked around on here before, but just joined this forum after meeting some of you you at the BDS Kona Jam in J-ville...and now I've purcased my first BDS! A "South Side" design flat pig! I don't know if I purchased it from someone in the brotherhood or not, but I just bought it on ebay a couple of days ago...It hasn't been delivered yet, so I came HERE to see what would be the best setup for it...I'm really impressed with this forum...lot's of great vibe!...A lot of great setups posted too...Thanks to all who shared!!...I'm trying to decide what wheels to use...and where to find them! The pics on this thread are just plain SICK!...OUTSTANDING! Any tips on where the best place to be to get what I need to build up this beast? (other than the obvious ebay...I watch it daily). Thanks....Cus

Hi CusCus, 1st thing you need to decide is what wheels you want, assuming that your talking about BDS wheels there is a fair bit of choice.

See this thread for everything that BDS has produced http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/post/bulldogskates/vpost?id=929192

Also you need to decide on trucks and should take a look at this thread to match the width of trucks and wheels to the deck http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/post/bulldogskates/vpost?id=547499

Once you have digested all of that and made a decision then go to the Buy Sell Trade forum and ask for what you want. BDS does have some stock but you will probably get anything that isn't available direct from BDS in the BST Forum.

Welcome to BDS

Thanks guys! It appears that dub cons are a popular choice for this deck, and I can see why...StrangeHouse does have a set of the mixed team colors Y/R/G/O...Those might be cool...thoughts?

The dubcons are excellent all-around wheels.  The team mix are cool, but if you have the South Side deck with the orange and yellow sprayed rails, I think orange wheels look the best.  (There were some hi-lighter yellow Dragons that look great with the yellow in the sprayed rail, but they are long out of production).  If you can't find the orange wheels, you could try to get some ultrathane wheels and dye them orange.  The ultrathanes are 92A (vs. 95A of the regular dubcons), but they are very fast for their duro.  Really good grip too.

If you would rather use wider trucks, like 169s, then go with mini dubs.  They have center set bearings and are a little smaller than the regular dubcons.  And, they are available in orange.

I just received it today, and it's an incredible!...However, when I originally purchased it, I didn't realize it was flat...I thought it would have at least minimal concave...What are your comments on the deck for pool/park riding?
