I noticed a few weeks back that a member here donated a board to another member. The shock and surprise of the recipient was good reading. So, here is a thread for stories of members who have received gifts or goodwill from other members.

Not even sure if this is the right place for this, but I will start.

So, a member here asked me to pick up a package for them here in Sydney and repackage it and send it on so they could avoid taxes, import duties etc. Not a big deal from my end really, just a favour to a BDS bro.

Imagine my surprise then, when as a token of appreciation I received the below in a package today. How cool is that. No less though, it says a great deal of the calibre of persons dwelling in and around this site.

Happy days and minty fresh.

You'll have to troll through the site there are quite a few examples of BDS Stoke in the history here.

Mine was getting a signed Sacred Heart from Tukinator.

Also got a Sims Flag Ship complete from someone (embarrassingly I can't remember their screen name, but it will come to me at some point)

A few occasions when I got sent extra decks from Foz and Wes - The Fire & Water being one.

I remember when BigPapaSD had his Tail Gunner set up stolen from his truck. There were parts being offered from all over the place. Robert had a complete new set up in no time. I sent rails from the UK.

I sent Mellow Yellow Dub Cons to Mike Morrison. Mike sent me a very bent valve out of a Top Fuel motor and some video of him wrenching on a Top Fuel drag boat.

Skatefink once sent me a flaming SKULL car aerial topper.

I expect there would be a few great stories around, none more than the ones you mentioned here TB. Thought it would be good to store them in a single thread.

Come on. Write about your experience of BDS brotherhood.
We need it in this crazy world
Here's mine. I once bought a NOS DT shogo Airbeam and the only thing that was not NOS was a DT sticker on the bottom I asked on the site if anybody had one for for sale and a BDS member sent me one. .... for free !
His name is Jeremy and he s a true cool bro
Merci encore ,-) Jeremy
Fred
(Forgot to mention that was a pretty rare NOS Dogtown sticker !)

Mid-ish 2009, Economic Collapse still all around.
I was making "Theme Decks" Cal Berkeley, Blue & Gold,
Pittsburgh Steelers-Pirates, Black & Gold.
Posted WTB Yellow skateboard wheels....

Shadowglenn PMs me and says if I pay freight will
ship to me 8 re-issue NOS Powell skateboard wheels
(think were the OEM, will check tonight and verify)....
Exactly what I was seeking. Beautiful bright Yellow/Gold Wheels.

Was blown away, been on ebay since 1998, and collecting decks since 2000.
Rarely got anything for free!!!

Thanks Shadowglenn!! Best part freight was cheap, only $50!!!! [biggrin][biggrin][biggrin]

There are quite a few stories here!  All good ones!  When I was looking for single wheels, many members sent them to me gratis, including Paly.
Or when I first came on board here, I had set up a Tailgunner, sold it, and missed it....So I posted up a WTB.  Abstract hit me up and wanted to see where it would be going.  Next thing I know, one just showed up!  I could not believe it.

I asked for a Pocket Pistols Limited Edition Chicken deck for my B-Day from my ex wife and daughter. I set it up and rode it a bit.  But later on, I needed to pay bills so I sold it.  Only to find out it was Wes' art!  Duh, no wonder I really liked the art!
So for years I have been on the hunt for another one, even contacting Chicken Deck at PPS a couple of times.
Nada.  I had posted up in WTB and scoured eBay.  Still nada.
Then a couple of weeks ago, here, in the "what's the next deck?" thread, the idea of slalom decks came up.  It was suggested that Wes's art would not fit.  Four95/Trevor posted a picture of his Limited Edition Chicken deck.  I had to ask.  "Do you want to sell it, or do you have a second one?"
The response came back that he did indeed have a second one.  It had been set up, but never ridden.
I asked what he wanted for it, and he said he would check postage first, as Trevor is in the UK, and I am in NorCal.  Trevor asked for my addy so he could figure it out.
I waited.........Trevor got back and said that the deck was on it's way.
"I asked what I owed him."  He said, "nothing."  I said, "at least postage?"  Trevor would have none of it!
The deck just showed up and I am SO stoked!!!
Thank you Trevor!!  This one will hang INSIDE the house!!
This place NEVER ceases to amaze me.  And with folks like Trevor, and many others who are here, I don't believe that it ever will.
These are just a few stories of things that have happened.  I have sent things on too.  You just can't help but to pass on stoke around here!
And this happened this weekend, though it was not a BDS deal.  I had my  buddy Tom's original Maherajah kicktail that he bought new, in my collection.  I picked it up years ago from a mutual friend who had bought it from him in high school.  I had my dad restore it, and I hung it up.  Tom would come by on occasion and he would always want to see it, and would show his wife and boys.  Well, he came over last weekend with his family to hang out, and I had been thinking it was time for the board to "go home".  So while we were all checking out some decks and chatting, I pulled it from it's display, and handed it to Tom.  I said, "it's time this deck went back home, so here you go".  Tom was amazed!!  He said "really?!?!?!"  He hugged me 3 times and I even think that he started crying a bit.
The feeling one gets from giving, can not be beat!

And as an aside, I have received many decks, skis, boards from other sports for my collection with no expectations, and my philosophy is that those "gifts" are never sold.  If they leave my collection, they go back to the person from whom they came from.
I still have that Tailgunner!

A couple years back I was looking for a particular tail skid.
Few weeks later I got one from the states for nothing ,-)
And shipping from the US to France is not a cheap and easy thing :-(

Thanks BDS bro again

After I purchased a beautiful Big Pimp and pissing and moaning about not wanting to ride it and do damage, a member here sent me a prototype with trucks. All I has to do was bolt on some Black Death Winged skulls and roll. I was STOKED !!! Won't ever let that one go.

Used to get stuff from Pat (skatefink) all the time as well.

I'm sure there are many more examples I will think of later, that escape me now.

I have flowed wheels, decks, etc. to others as that is all part of what makes this place so great.

Cheers brothers !!!

In 2013 I had scraped together enough money to buy some Juju wheels to put on a BDS deck in the near future. We were living in MD and have a house in VA that had a contract on it to sell. I was planning on buying a BDS deck to celebrate the sale. The sale fell through a couple weeks before closing because the couple buying were getting divorced. Knowing that I wouldn't have any money to buy skate stuff for a long time I offered up the wheels to a BDS member for free. After posting why in the ad a bunch of BDSers got together and sent the parts to add to my wheels for a complete setup. You can see the process of putting it together along with the names of the generous BDSers on the thread called BDS Grouper Fish deck build.

I have never forgot that time in my life because money was so tight and the group here blew me away with their generosity. I still have the setup and in fact I used it to teach my daughter to skate last year.

Anyone remember when we put that Z13 together for a kid after his Dad posted on here? Can't remember what the full story behind it was, been trying to find the thread for ages.
