i have another pleasant story about the familia ...

some of you will likely recall that my brother somehow became addicted to crack and was shot while buying, he died that night and left an undeserving wife and family behind
his widow did an amazing job keeping the family sane, which included moving them 2500 miles away and starting a new life in a new place

my niece, his daughter, had been a nearly constant member of my household, she and my daughter were like peas in a pod and she held a very special place in my heart
when she moved, it left a hole in my life

a little while after they moved she told me about an older guy she had met in her new town, he was teaching her to surf and she was happy for his interest in her life
this set me on edge, i was very protective and needed to know who this guy was and how he could affect her life

there are BDS members in the city they moved to and i chose to reach out and ask if they knew this guy, they did know him
the reviews came back very positive, he was said to be a high quality dude with a great background, my fears were poorly placed [thumb]

that was several years ago
this past weekend i flew to see my niece graduate high school and i met this man that had taken my step kid under his wing
i think we will be friends for life, he is truly an amazing man and his intentions were entirely altruistic
in fact, she told me that he had done a pretty good job of providing a father figure for her and helped her progress towards her goals
she graduated with a 4.2 GPA btw, an honor grad on her way to law school in august

the benefit of having BDS friends give me the thumbs up in this case were HUGE and they were accurate to boot
not your standard bro story, but no less powerful than free decks and wheels shipped to your door

i'm tremendously grateful for this and many, many instances i've had communing with this family, thank you Wes and the BDS family from the bottom of my heart, long may you roll
sincerely,
~lox

I remember a few years ago some fellow set up a car paint and started it on a journey around the world. It touched a lot of folks hands as it moved along.  People enjoyed the ride and passed it on with its stories posted here. Then he did it again with another car paint so that we could honor our members that have fallen to cancer.

Cool and selfless acts.
