Hello Everyone!

Just joined today.  I used to skate in the 70s..  specifically from 1976 when I started (at 8 years old) until I stopped sometime around 1981 or 1982. I didn't like the way boards were going, and and just kind of left it behind.

I found my some of my old boards recently though, and it re-kindled my interest.  I Ebayd a load of random stuff, but still have my first ever board, a crappy Skuda, and I also have most of my favourite board, which was a G&S Warptail 2 (second release) with ACS651 trucks and 65mm red C series Kryptonics.  I no longer have the wheels, but they were heavily worn last time I saw them.  The deck is in poor shape, and I'm currently in the middle of restoring it.  The trucks are in reasonable shape, but I've just picked up some NOS ones (never been mounted and rubbers never tightened). So I may put the original ones on something I can actually skate, and keep the NOS for the restored board when finished.

This is a great site, and a wealth of information for anyone restoring old stuff!

Hello David and welcome from Maryland on the mid-Atlantic coast of US.

I'm sure you've looked through the restorations corner - we have some very talented folks on this site.  Good luck with your project and post up picks in that thread.  Before and after are always cool to see.

Thanks for the welcome everyone 😉

I'll certainly post up pics when things start to come together.  I need to carefully assess the viability of the deck though.  I left the board in my parent's garage in around 1981 and it only surfaced last week!  My mother was clearing out 40 year's worth of crap, and asked if I wanted any of it before it was thrown away.  My original ACS-651s are in good shape (apart from the bushings)...  but the deck is a mess. The wood is almost black...  it' sbeen wet at some point..  starting to delaminate, and smells of cat pee.   It's not looking good.  I may build the board again with a re-issue deck until I can find a nice N.O.S one, or at least a decent one to restore.

So...  in short, looking out for a Warptail 2 (second "Stacey Peralta" release), and some 65mm Red Kryps.  Mine were the second gen...  I think a later (1978 or so) version had built in bearings and core, but I seem to recall mine had no core...  you just pushed the bearings into the urethane.

Hi David good to see another Brit here. I think the that you can still get the Warptail II re-issue and they are making Kryptonics again.

Hi Tony,

Yeah...  I've learned that since posting.  If I can't restore this deck, that's an option I may have to look into...  same with the wheels.

Where in the UK are you?

Thanks.

Lot of skate parks there.  Used to live in London...  in Dalston.  It was a dump when I Was there, but I hear it's getting trendy now...  like Shoreditch kind of.
