The internet band would be a fun deal for sure...but don't know how it would get done.  I know my bandmates have some crazy recording shit and I've got a zip drive 8 that apparently can go on the computer, but I haven't messed with that side of things yet.

I think building your own amp is killer - especially if it works for you!

I'm on a crazy search for something around 30 watts - 1X12 or 2 x 10.

I also have this crazy ass Gibson amp- Duo Medalist (1 x 12) that pumps it and unbeatable reverb, but is a piece of 50# furniture...very unuserfriendly.  LET ALONE THE NO GROUND.  99% of the time I'm blasted before I turn the plug around for polarity.

Shoot Angry Jazz, I've got a blown up Peavey Roadmaster amp (Have 2 actually/ 1 working) that you could probably tweak and turn into a beauty/frankenstein.  Amp tech dude said it only needed tubes and $100 of parts and labor.  Another 50# piece of furniture.

Nice nice nice...does that Gretsch have F-Holes or are they the painted on?  That's a killer guitar.

And the Gibson - I was on a mad search for that same guitar for awhile, until I found the Gretsch.  At the Rockabilly Ball up here in Seattle, every band/guitar player played that guitar as a house guitar.  Found it strange they kept one set up on stage, but that's how it went down...same for the drums.  Good times.

At a closer glance, it obviously isn't. Not that that's a bad thing....

What is it?

yeah, the gretsch has the painted-on f holes. it's a 1964 model and originally belonged to alvin lee (ten years after). all original except he replaced the original bridge with an abr1 and the switch tips were replaced with plastic ones.

the first guitar photo is a gibson es-295 which is basically an es-175 but with p90 pickups and a bullion gold finish covering the entire guitar  -i.e. neck too. this was the model that scotty moore used when he first got together with elvis.

thanks for posting the photos mike!

best,

the les paul junior is a 1955 model. all original with no breaks. pretty lightweight and the p90 is awesome - no need for an overdrive pedal!

Looked at all that again and am getting fired up to play tonight.  Have to play a Vanilla set next week at a family fair setting - so have to deep six half our songs - and almost all of mine.

Yeah the studio is disgusting and if you're ever in the Seattle area (Well we're out towards the mountains in North Bend), it's open for guest jammers!!  We may be looking for a new bass man soon...

Fun stuff for sure...
