How many more tragedies does America want to endure before you realise that you need to do something about your guns?

Like what?
Take away the LAW ABIDING CITIZEN'S rights to own a gun.
Like Australia did?
GREAT IDEA.
Except that the crime rate SKYROCKETED in Australia post-Nazi
gun confiscation.
No thanks.
I think we need to ARM EVERYONE.

I have always found it odd that these topics only seem to come up whenever a massacre or some senseless tragedy happens.

Topics show up on forums like this.

Politicians want to change laws.

Rallies are had.

Then, for some inexplicable reason, we always lose interest and flip the channel to see if Don Imus said anything else bad, or who Anna Nicole's baby's daddy du' jour' is.

As Americans, it seems that our first inclination is to knee jerk. . .then lose all interest.

. . .until it happens again.

You'll never get the point. You have to start somewhere and allowing everyone to have a gun isn't the right way to go about solving the problem.

Bottom line is, if they want to kill someone, they will.  Be it gun, knife, cut brake lines, or a fucking car bomb!  So what, do we take away cars as well so the likes of Timothy Mcvieh (sp?) can't blow up a building.
Sorry, losing the guns won't do it either.
I started NRA shooting, and critter shooting in Wyoming at a very young age.  Point being, the best we can do teach right from wrong, and hope it sticks.

Tony, had anything blown up in your country lately?  I guess you blokes should not have cars, or back packs, or water bottles.
These items can be made to kill and maim many more people at one time than any gun ever will.

You can't possibly take away the guns here in America.  It'd be the equivalent, (or worse) to prohibition.

That said, to still call it a 'right' is SO fucking weak.  It doesn't even deserve a response anymore.  Hasn't for the last 150 years or so IMO.

why not? taking away the ability for law abiding citizens to own a gun will not do away with the crime problem, it will only make it easier for the criminal to commit a crime. how many tragedies will have to be endured if you take the guns away from the non-criminal? the criminal is not going to be handing in his gun, the gang member is not going to turn in his gun. the only people that will turn in, or have their guns confiscated by the government will be those that haven broken a law in getting that weapon nd havent used it to commit a crime.

i guess youll never get the point.

I'm aware of that, and to an extent I'm willing to live with it, (or not depending on which way that guns pointing).  There's 6 BILLION of us on this planet.  Not everyone gets to choose how or when they go out.

And since people in general, (not just Americans) can't seem to figure out how to get a grip on things like gun control, I'm open to just about anything.

But to try to take guns away from 100 million or so people isn't a very logical option IMO.

Abolish all gun control including registration.

TonyB, what happened at VA Tech is a tragedy, a tragedy that could have been prevented if students and faculty had the right to protect themselves on campus by the right to carry a firearm. Gun Control leads to State Control (Ottoman Empire, U.S.S.R, Nazi Germany, China, Cambodia (Khmer Rouge) ) to name a few and turns law abiding citizens into sitting duck for psychos to shoot at.
