I am also a heavily armed pacifist.  I won't shoot first unless it is clearly a gunfight.  Otherwise you have the first shot.  Make a good one cuz you won't get another.

Wrong! Handguns can be quite effective in obtaining other said weapons.

The government thought so.

The resistance fighters were to recover the weapons, sneak up on an Axis occupier, either kill him or knock him out and retrieve his weapon(s).

"Handguns can be quite effective in obtaining other said weapons."  true, if you have to start somewhere.

Yea, but if those guys already had RPGs, or to be era correct, recoilless rifles or panzer fausts, they wouldn't have been dropping them handguns.

Importantly, the Germans were looking down the barrel of the world's fastest growing and best performing economy the world had ever seen. Nearly every single war in the recorded history of mankind was won by the country with the better economy.  They had no chance.

Right, that's the point of dropping them. So they could use them to get other weapons. IMO, having a single shot pistol is better than having no weapon at all.

Report: Japanese mayor killed by mobster

TOKYO - The mayor of the Japanese city of Nagasaki was shot to death in a brazen attack Tuesday by an organized crime chief apparently enraged that the city refused to compensate him after his car was damaged at a public works construction site, news agencies reported.

The shooting was rare in a country where handguns are strictly banned and only four politicians are known to have been killed since World War II.

Organised crime has always been armed, its the other idiots that you have to take care of first.

Make the penalty for being in possession of a fire arm stiff enough and things will improve. Not many ordinary people get involved with true organised crime. Its up to the Police to sort them out.

hey Tony,
As you might know(or not), our city police no longer have the
motto; "To Serve and Protect". It was false advertising.
Our police cannot protect the law abiding citizens from the
criminals.(as sadly shown in Va.)
It's up to the citizens to protect ourselves.
