Hi this is Don.  Originally from Culver City now living in West Los Angeles.  Started skating in 1974.  Worked at Rip City Skates in Santa Monica in the mid 80's.  Printed for Alva when they were in Marina Del Rey for a year.  I have 1 board from that period.  Played bass in the punk rock band Hated Principles.  I was a music reviewer for Flipside, Razorcake and Profane Existence.  Also did live photography of bands from 2006 - 2010.  Started getting boards at the Powell warehouse sales to get boards for the wall.  That led me to collecting reissue Dogtown and Natas decks.  Now I am about to start picking up some BDS too!  Cheers!

Welcome. There’s a lot of boards to colllect here. Is there a type of graphic that you prefer.....Skulls, Octopus, Seahorse, Dragons, Murfs?

Not sure. It has to have an initial impact on me. Probably going to start with the Shogo’s

The fish shape and the beamers look sick too! The eight wheelers intrigue me too. Back in the 80’s the guy from Z made me a 8 wheeler sized blank. I made it into a fish shape. Was hard to ride so I sold it. That was a dumb move. The Lonnie Toft that is in Rip City was mine. Traded it for a couple of Alva’s that I broke in a week. Total regret.

Plenty of choices if you want an 8 Wheeler. I think this is still my favourite BDS 8 Wheeler graphic

Hello and welcome from Maryland.  And a lifelong Dodgers fan...

As Tony B mentioned, there are tons of designs, members have posted up their wall displays, complete set ups, all kinds of info and pix available.

In Collectors Corner, there are two threads; one with a list of the BDS/BDA decks and the other with the car paints, both including approximately when they were released.  That will give you another reference to the volume of designs out there.

That Shogo Pineapple is a great rider and a lovely wall hanger, if you want it for that.  Smokin' deal on that one too.  Very nice score!

Definitely a wall hanger.  I need to find wall space though.  I have a bit of OCD due to anxiety.  So I have about 10+ boards now all over our house.  I think now with the Shogo and another Natas that showed up today, I have another 10 boards not on a wall.  Wife wants me to clean out the garage and move all the boards and my records into there.

I ride a hybrid of a Schmitt Stix Yardstick that I made with a bigger nose.  So it's I think a 10"x38".

Also, I have a herniated disc from a bad slam.  Had surgery and re-herniated what was left of the disc.  No 2nd surgery.  I just roll around now.

Thanks!  I used to make that hour drive to Upland back in high school about once a week my senior year of high school.  Also, skated that Vans park at Ontario Mills before I blew my back out.

Welcome from Florida.

If you want to give the 8 wheeler another go, look under the Resources menu at the top of the page. Steve Holt posted a lot of tips there and scattered all over the website is a lot more info.
