Thanks guys. I just got off the phone with my Pop and my sister. He sounded good. My sister said that he's had a huge weight taken off his shoulders and is thankful that my Mom doesn't have to be going though that anymore.

Your dad sounds like a wonderful man and I am definetly sending positive thoughts his (and your) way.
My condolences on your loss. It's good that your mom had him to show true love. It's getting more rare by the day. Scott

my Grandpa was WWII vet, 11th Airborne paratrooper and had alzheimers as well, my Grandma had to take care of her bed ridden mother for close to 10 years before my Grandpa started showing signs of alzheimers, luckily Great Granny passed away January 2000, my Grandpa didn't make it through the year though and passed in November of the same year....... very rough and I can imagine your thoughts and feelings, my Grandma was never really the same afterwards and neither was my family, I wish the best for you are yours my thoughts and prayers are with you brother

Gary it sounds like your father has the heart of a servant, which is aligned with one of Christ's greatest attributes, and I'm sure you are quite proud of him and the way he is most likely handling this situation.
I lost my father a couple years ago when he was 82 to chronic emphyasema (WWII vet and one heck of a guy). Here is a link to a song (It is well with my soul) that brings comfort to my heart when I am missing him. It is a hymn written by Horatio spafford, a man who endured several tragedies in his life including lossing 4 children; his story is inspirational and brings tears to the eyes.
God bless you brother and stay strong in his spirit!

Pops is of the John Wanye era, they don't make m like that anymore, be proud of Pop, tell him you love him, tell him stories of the family glory years, make him remember the good times....
