Those DB Jay Adams decks are one of my favorites and a real cool deck to skate - classic shape - but they would warp a bit and were kinda whippy. The DB's that had that "thick bitch" condtruction were cool too but could be kinda heavy. My hanger I sold to Big Dawg

hey,
ALL of my deathbox decks were TOTAL PIECES OF SHIT.
(except my Wentzle Ruml deck which I turned into a slalom
deck) They stress fractured all over the place in a matter of
weeks.(inside a month for my Jay Adams deck, and 5-6 weeks
for both of the hackett surf/skater decks)
I won't ever buy another deathbox deck.
It's too bad really; I dug the shape of the hackett deck, it reminded
me of the old Caster/Inouye decks with the stinger. And the Adams
deck was almost big enough for me to feel comfortable on as
a popsicle deck would allow.
My hackett deck resides in the county landfill, and the Adams
deck is collecting dust on a shelf.

Yeah Tuk the early ones had the double Z-flex and said Jay Adams design like the OG fiberglass decks. I guess those had wheel wells the later ones said Jay Adams model.
Oh, and the early ones had a see through finish top and bottom, you can see the natural ply edge and the later ones were full dip paint.

The Collectors makes me want to start hitting up garage sales... anyone have any good flea market stories?  You know, like the one where the bitter ex-wife sells a lucky sumbitch a Porsche for $25?

JLF,

Don't want to get too far off the subject of this thread.  (Maybe we need a garage sale find thread).  But, my brother (that weasel) scored an original Winterstick for $100 and a Sims yellow banana snowboard with Sims Phase 3 deck for only $10!  Both were in excellent condition.  My brother had already sold his own Sims snowboard from the 70s with Toft deck for $1300 on eBay.  As you can imagine, he made out pretty well on these garage sale finds.  Ugg, some guys have all the luck.

I think it's more the way they explode and do flips in the air. You just can't get that same "flip" when shooting tomato paste cans. Same explosion but...no flip.

Very nice Pimp!  Yeah, maybe we should have a 'Tall Story' thread here in Collectors....
