Sweet Iowa! I think I had seen the Backsides pics, but not the tuck knee OR the Wall O'Vert pics.

Wasn't it a blast to skate back then?

NICE PICS of the movement in IOWA!!!  Woo-Hoo!!

Yeah, the foam boards did rock too!  They bounced the first few nose dives (wish I did), then they cracked & split.  I really liked the unique technology (for then) and how much different those K-foam and K-beams were from most of the other boards of that era.  The backyard pool scene was the best... period.  Bobby's pool (parents gone on 2nd honeymoon) in Palm Springs circa 1979.

God TonyB !!!!

The Kryptonic cx-66 (green) was the last wheels I had when I retired in 1980 !!! Blast from the past.

When I was at the Playero Team down in P.R.,we had Luke Moore in our team also ,and he was riding for Kryptonics at the time (end 78,early spring 79).

So the  owner Tony Yordan of the surf shop that we skated for , hook us all up with those Kryptos foam boards. They looked different at the time, but honestly we all went back to wood, that's when I jump back to my Sims taperkick Doug de Montmorency.

But the Kryptonic ALBA model from 80 or 81 was a sweet piece of lumber !!!!

They were the last piece of Skateboard equipment I got before I stopped skating around 1980.

I got them from a guy I met on the path by the bay in San Diego just outside our hotel while I was on holiday with my family. I freaked he was riding a K-beam with a blue logo. He went a got me a set of wheels that afternoon and said he could get me a deck to. Unfortunately we went home the next day and despite having his telephone number I never did get the deck.

Gutted the story of how I nearly got a K-Beam - the one that got away..

I'm still riding a set of the blue CX66 large letters on a DT Bigfoot reissue... and they are still really FAST in pools/parks .  I just got a set of crappy NOS blue CX66 small letters... lathed all crooked and wobbly .  That's the problem with alot of NOS stuff from "back in the day"... it only survived all these years cuz it too messed up to really use!  Good to look at from a distance, but worthless otherwise.
