Funny.

You'd think that with all the reissue madness in the air that the folks at Kryptonics would show some interest in reproducing the famed green Star Trac wheel.

Wonder why they're not doing this. They could make a mint off us. Ya know?

FYI- The two tone Kryptonics wheels (on pg 2) are neither a mistake nor sun damage.  I skated them in their heyday and they came that way.  Pretty rare.

Those would be original, first generation, Kryptonics Star Trac wheels, often referred to as "raised letter wheels."

The second generation wheels (the ones most of us are most familiar with), have recessed letters, flat backs and a metal washer for a bearing seat.  The second generation were followed by the C series wheels, which looked the same as the second generation but had a plastic core.

The glass bottle green Star Trac wheels are all pretty dark now, but very cool.  Wish I had a set.

The 2nd Gen 70mm Kryptonics had recessed backs as well. I sold my blue set on ebay a few years ago for nothing, I wish I didn't.

That's right.  The 70mm had the recessed backs, like these.

The 65mm and 60mm were flat backs.  Sorry, I goofed.

There are some interesting amber Star Trac wheels that were cut down for slalom, as used by the Turner team, on eBay right now.  http://cgi.ebay.com/NOS-1970s-STAR-TRAC-KRYPTONICS-SLALOM-SKATEBOARD-PIERCY_W0QQitemZ7218480068QQcategoryZ114248QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I have a set of 4 green that were lathed down the same way...I'm talking the bottle green 70mm wheels. I have been tempted in the past to ride them, but haven't...

I have a remake Alva set up with OG Tracker small pivot Fulltracks & some green 70mm 2nd series Kryptonics.  Got the Kryptonics last year from a bro here on the forum.  They had been lightly used & had some marks on them.  Big Papa & I rode them at Coronado for a session & they cleaned up nicely.  Still that bright Kryptonics green.  The deck looks just like T.A.'s did, catching air at the Dog Bowl.

Nice wheels Craig! I've got a set of green c-65's on a pair old mid tracks with copers that I've had for a long time. I'm just waiting for a z-woody to show up some day to set them up on.

I've got a set of 62mm Krypto Superlites.  Really big, red, plastic cores with ventillation holes.  They're bright peachy/orange and pretty hard.  The riding surface is lathed.  Anyone know anything about 'em?
