Just got to thinking, I've always loved Lazer trucks-particularly the 8 inch Grinders.

I have 4 sets NOS 8 inch lazers- it's bit of an obsession!

So what else is out there?

I'd love to see a good set of the 9 inch with the raised grind bar.

Did the copers for the wider Lazers over materialize, I saw them mentioned in the ads, but I've never actually seen any.

I also love the long stickers they made for the truck hangers.

The blue risers, the blue rubbers, coooolll!!

Back in the day (way back) I used to run the old school Tracker Copers on my Lazers as seen below.

Nice! Iove Lazer trucks! Skaterat, I am suprised that Tracker copers even fit on them! That is cool that you even tried to get them to work! I have a bunch of the narrower ones, the freestyle and the slalom ones, with both the early and later baseplates that fit the Lazer risers.

Also back in the day, I had a set of Lazer grinders that I sold when the first Indys came out! I promptly bent them! Oh well!

Mine have lock nuts, yours dont!

Did they change the design then?

The hangers are very thick, isnt this the raised grind bar?  or is that something even chunkier only on the 9" model?

Yours are the early version of the Grinders that also have the bottom nut on the kingpin. The picture at the top of this thread have the later base plate.

Hey Madrat.
Those Lazers are the first sets.
Then came the fixed bolt.

Then came the fixed bolt but with the allen key head, like the ones in my pics.
I have two sets of each, (smug bastard)

From a style standpoint Lazers rock.

The helicoil in the baseplate (instead of a nut) seems like a good idea, I'm trying that out on a pair of indys soon.

Orton said his broke, so he shined Lazer.

Lazer mysteriously disappeared in 79 I think

Mark Lake said they paid him to do an ad and he never heard from them again.

Lazer stickers rule.

You're right about Lazers.
As far as I know they changed from the nut and bolt set-up to the fixed because of breakages.

Before my father-in-law threw my Toft out, it sat around with a broken kingpin stuck in the baseplate- this happened to me a lot. But I still loved those trucks, they look great.

Ironically in both versions it is nut and bolt (nut on top later).

The kingpin had an allen hole and was threaded into the baseplate (as it had always been). That way it could be lowered and not stick out of the nut.

So it wasn't fixed in the newer version either.

I don't know if they ever changed it after that.

Does anybody know where else Lazers tended to break?
