Back from one of the most interesting surf trip ever.
Ecolodge in Nicaragua. Means NO wifi, NO electricity, not a single village around. Bungalows on da beach.
Very few to NO surfers in the water cause it s not a true surf camp. So you don' t have the average nervous surfer that will drop on you ecah time a nice set comes !
A spot just in front of the lodge.
A wonderful slab 15 mn walk on the sand up north, and beachbreaks like hossegor in France 10 mn by car !
What else ?
Local food, very good price, horse ride on da beach, spanish lesson, yoga course if u want.

If you want to surf in an extraordinary landscape, nice waves, very little people surfing ...
It's called "Los Cardones". Owners are Anne Laure a french woman and Izic, an American guy.
True cool people.

Very cool-
Nice to find warm water spots with minimal crowds.
Conversely, I had the worst trip of my life with SurfTours Nicargua. While Freight Trains was a great break, it was overrun by Brazzos and the entire area was blown out by 9am and nothing to do the rest of the day. Also, the guys who ran the camp were not very 'customer oriented'.
Going back to DR in January- this will be my 5th trip there and always very good. Last year had a great trip to Pacific Panama in April, but they went out of business, so looking for a new spot. Will check this one out, but probably too far off the grid with no wifi...

Main cool thing about Los cardones is that it is not really a surf camp packed with surfers ready to kill to catch a wave. There were a lot of US guys living in the mountains, or even in Alaska, almost all Beginers.

Coooool vibes in the water, indeed. And we were blessed (end of november) with no wind or light off shore. Only had one day with bad winds !
I took more waves in 10 days that in a full summer in Biarritz (100 people in the water sometimes)

I saw several 'eco lodges'- thanks for pointing out which one.
So no wifi? I really have to be in touch with work on a daily basis for the next 3 years- part of a new contract in effect Jan 1st.

Fred-
Pondering Salina Cruz in Mex or Chicama in Peru.
Experience with either one?
