Some guys know this event as the b-way bomb.

After last year's police presence the community's avoided that name to get it off their radar.
No clue how this year's will be, but there's generally ~1K longboarders/skateboarders taking over broadway.
This should be my 3rd consecutive year & (due to knee) first year I'll be taking it slow.
Race your ass off or cruise in the slow lane, it's a weekend of fun.

Show up Saturday 116th & Broadway @ noon sharp.
(With all the skaters gathering you can't really miss us)

Police presence was heavier than ever.
One skater tackled & cuffed at the start after riding down 116th from Broadway to Riverside.
The amount of ziptie cuffs on each officer was insane - intimidation factor or not.

My buddy, not prone to that kinda risk taking, convinced me to go the guerrilla route again.
Had a solid LONG detoured skate as far east as through the Central Park bike paths to Columbus Circle.
Met back up with Broadway from CC down to Times Sq. before deviating again and ultimately opting to go straight to East River BBQ instead of finish line.

TL;DR - Mad cops/arrests since last yr, went mostly "legal" by avoiding broadway, fun day skating the city. knee held up; not in jail.

Well shit. At least ya got to skate... To me, pack skating is more stressful anyway... I reckon even more so when you are running from cops with Bloombergs stop and search laws! The path you took sounds more fun, actually... But... I'm old...

I'm glad some people were able to "keep skateboarding a crime".
