I know I've said this before, but doesn't Tony Hawk strike you as Canadian ? Like if you had never met him before and someone asked you "Hey see that tall skinny dude over there on the half-pipe doing all those boring-ass repetitive rotations ? What nationality do you think he is ?"

Most of us would say Canuck...

And Bam is in the closet big-time but he's east-coast to the bone...

I don't know why more people don't move to Canada, it seems to have all the social programs that liberals want.

So many of them said they were gonna move to Canada when Bush was
re-elected, what happened?
Guess the Canadians said "No thanks."

Island, Japan at least has national health care. US is the only industrialized nation that doesn't,and everybody pays more per capita. I think everyone ought to stay put and enjoy what they got, US is still a great country, but it could do much better for its middle-class,quality of life thing. Since everyone's going to pay taxes anyway, get something you actually need back. All I'm saying.

As far as jobs go, I too am going by what I see around me.

Alot of Hollywood production work has gone to Canada to avoid US unions.

On the other hand, those Canadian surfers are Hardcore, thats for sure.

Yeah and speaking from personal observation and experience the out of pocket prices are good but the quality of Nationalized healthcare SUCKS!, national insurance only covers a percentage, alot of people I know also have private insurance, most of the facilities I've been to seem kinda run down with outdated equipment but the smaller private owned facilities are a bit nicer, the medical professionals and hospitals juice the system by keeping patients who should be out-patients in the hospital, perhaps their not concerned about their patients contracting nosocomial infections, the cause of death for my father-in-law. Hospitals are not staffed to treat a wide spectrum of illness and injuries (went to 2 different hospitals and called 3 others till we were able to find one that could reduce my shoulder back in place). A simple trip to the dentist to get a filling takes at least two visits or more to get done. My wife's grandma is in a long term hospital/care home facility and the quality of care she receives is amateur compared to quality of care I've seen and given in America when I worked as a student nurse, and she's in a nicer privately owned facility. there's waiting lists for the treatment of some diseases or operations which can take over a year, which is too late for many (stories from friends). The only advantage I really see in Nationalized Health care is it seems cheap (but taxes aren't) and easy for the minor stuff, and it's great for hypochondriacs.

Thanks for the perspective. Yeah, come to think of it, my father-in-law also died from less than ideal health-care, they never caught during his check-ups that he had potential heart problems. On the other hand, when my son caught his foot in the spokes of the bike I was riding, the local clinic was great. I know I'm beating a dead horse at this point, but my own perspective was formed by the year in Boston paying for private insurance for the self-employed, $900 a month.
