No need to reply to this whatsoever but...

I never "got" the whole flyaway thing.
I guess to you guys the history is cool and the style cooler.
But it just never did it for me. Not my cup of tea.
(I'll stick to my Giro Flak which I can afford)

But I sure do love some of that art!

and, in no means trying to be condescending, there is the difference between old-school and new-school...

@Rogue
thanks for the completely honest reply!

Not that I need too, but let me help.

The Flyaway was the 1st Helmet made solely for Skateboarding and it happened to be endorsed by some heavyweight sk8r who I thought would be the last guy donning a helmet.

Rougueclam,

You like many other skaters are using what is known as a

skate style BICYCLE helmet.

(from a non skating company)

Fine if you want to look like a skateboarder on your bike.

Your helmet is a single impact helmet which means...

If you hit your head once, you have to throw your helmet away.

For lots of kids that means they have to buy their helmets in bulk.

Have you hit your head in that bicycle helmet?

I bet it hurt too (if you did.)

Those helmets are designed for one big impact

(g d forbid you should bounce!)

So most kids using that affordble helmet need to bring 4 or five to the park to throw away as they bite it.

Most dont and are wearing the worst helmets ever,

Single impact helmets that have suffered numerous impacts)\

Pro tec, s one, roces and others make true skateboarding helmets (multi impact / two stage foam) like the Flyaway® but

they are very hard to find due to fucked up helmet laws.

Also I suggest that you try one of my helmets for a few runs at your local park ramp pool or ditch or hill.

While these suckers can look a liitle funny to you youngins, you cannot deny the superior fit , comfort and ventilation of these fiberglass skateboard helmets,

Try it, youll like it!

(not for use on Bicycles or motorized death boards)

and sorry but.... SKATE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!

Rogue .... dude growing up & seeing some dude named Jay Adams wearing a Fly away is a big reason why this old dude wears one. Back in the day, we didn't like to wear helmets & most were hockey helmets. The Konoa killed us & seeing Jay Boy wearing a cool helmet blew us all away. More importantly, the Fly away is far superior to anything else. You will skate better ... less bulk, etc.

The flyaway® was very popular in 78 -79, but way too stylish and surfy for the punk revoulution that was going to rock skating.

Here are a few classic Tbone shots from his website

I hear this young ripper is still skatin

I took the Flaway out for a speed ride last weekend.
I could have sworn I was in a 27 year time warp.
