Great day yesterday.
Didn't catch any live feed yesterday, but looks like some bug names out- Sunny for one.
Should be bigger today-Go Kelly and Mick! Anyone but Medina.

Hopefully it will be better and more consistant today. It was very inconsistant yesterday and most of the heats were scoring really low.

I'm pulling for the HI wildcards to knockout Medina from the event. Have to admit the kid is good but he has a long way to go in the maturity and growing up department. Sponsors are throwing money and exposure at him in large amounts though and working on his image whether he really improves his or not....

Let the final show begin......

No action at Pipe yesterday due to funky conditions, waves XL but not from the correct direction and with so much sand on the reef pipe is not reacting well to the current swell. The same for today, contest is now on hold and waiting for the next predicted swell which will start to fill in by Saturday and has a better WNW direction to it.

The Big Wave event went off over in Sapin and local Santa Cruz charger Nick Lamb pulled in the win with some massive rides in the final. Makua Rothman who won the first event earlier this year came in second. Replays can be checked out on the ASP website.... Next up could be either the Todos (Baja) site or the much anticipated event at Jaw's (Maui).

Pipe is firing today and lots of good waves on tap.

Kelly wasn't firing today and once again seems to be just missing the mark. He is relegated to round two and will face one of the Pipe wild cards....

Don't like the Brazzo surfers but Medina showed class in his championship. Kinda a kooky style but certainly works for him. The last few minutes of that final heat were crazy.
How the hell did Dusty Payne not win the Triple Crown??!!

Just booked a trip to the Waterways house in the Dominican Republic for a week in January- stoked!!

I love the DR. Had a lot of fun on the North Coast in Puerto Plata, but never surfed there. Post pics!

I surfed there a few years ago when the house was owned by Quicksilver- same setup and guide- a really good guy that is up for anything. Plenty of uncroweded waves.
85 degrees, 80 degree water....
12 hrs to get there from Denver, (Costa Rica is 5 hrs) but worth the trip.
