I would have thought that ultrathanes would have been more forgiving with wheel bite since they are harder. I find that softer wheels bite the hardest and hard wheels just slow down on bite.

Is it the shape perhaps?

Well, mainly comparing Ultrathanes with Black Death.  The Ultras are relatively soft and grip VERY well.  But, with the hard Black Death wheels, you can get away with a little bit of wheel bite.  For instance, with the Traveling Carpaint, I noticed when I switched to Ultrathanes to ride indoors, the board was much more prone to wheel bite than with the Black Death wheels on there most of the time.  Of course, if there is not adequate wheel clearance and wheel bite is significant, you'll get pitched no matter how hard the wheels.

Ultrathane is a 92a durometer and has loads of grip. They can pitch you off as they are soft enough and grippy enough.

If you are getting wheel bite GO FASTER!

More love for the Quad 12...was about to put this up for sale until I stood on it and remembered how perfect a deck this really is...just gripped and set it up and looking forward to riding it. [thumb] Thanks again to Wes for all the awesome art, as well as for making the best damn boards in the universe.

That looks great Don.  I got my orange one like yours from skateight back in early 2007.  It is a great rider, to be sure.  I've been riding smaller boards in recent years, so I haven't ridden my Q12 in quite a while, but I'm going to make a point of getting back out on it soon.

Well, this guy is thankful that you did.  I had a lot fun on that board.  Even did my first successful drop in on it at Louisville.  Happy Jack.
