Looks like these 60mm wheels have a narrow contact patch, but for what I do, didn't notice a difference in grip. They are hella fast with Bones ceramics, and the serious bevel lets them on and off the coping easily.

70's, put a Rd America video on the Vintage Car thread.

I would have thought that the black rain would be quicker because they carry less mass, they would be easier to throw around ?
Also comparing the specs of the 63mm black rain there is only a 3mm contact patch difference in the mini dubs favor, on paper these must be a very close comparison.

I now have both rainskates 63mm black rains & Black Death dub cons & wanted to share my opinion on the rainskates in particular, I think this might be useful to those who might be in the market for some new wheels & can't find any black deaths or can't afford them.
The rainskates certainly are fast & do edge the dub cons for speed it would be interesting to see how they compare with the mini dub cons , they roll on & off the coping very well & overall very impressed by them.Where the dub cons shine over them is grip & I felt that on a rock roll on a 6 ft tight smooth concrete tranny but this is only due because of my low skill level so someone who has a high skill level may well like that ability to slide them out a little.
Also the dub cons I must say look a lot better & suit the bigger boards you can use them with a variety of trucks where as the rainskates will have to be used with 215 or 184 depending on your board width.
If BDS wheels are not a option for you the rainskates 63 black rain are great alternative!
Hopefully havnt stirred up any hate as personally my favourite wheels are the dub cons just thought I would post this up to help out anyone who might need a alternative to our favourite brand as the BDS wheels are becoming scarce.

Thanks Ollie:
I use 60mm now- too many wheel bite falls with anything bigger.
These are the fastest wheels I've ridden and I have had no issue with grip.

BDS Black Death wheels were also available in Skull Wave 64mm, Cow Skull 62mm and Winged Skull 60mm. These wheels have a smaller 1" contact patch.

Smaller than the contact patch of the Dubcons is what you mean, yes?  The smaller BDS wheels you mentioned would have about the same contact patch as the Rainskates though.

The 63mm Rainskates might??? be faster than the 64mm Dubcons.  But, I still stay, apples to apples, between the 60mm Rainskates and the 60mm BDS, the BDS are faster.  And, as mentioned, the BDS wheels grip better too.

Yes. If you are going to compare the two wheels, it would be better if you used BDS Black Death Skull Wave 64mm to the Rainskates Black Rain 63mm.

One more little thing to say about Dub Cons....the bearing is off set as opposed to centre set on all others BDS wheels (Shogo's also offset).

As darb said, better to compare to the Skull Waves or Cow Skulls although both are 1mm different in size. Rainskates have a narrower contact patch.

Thx for the clarification guys, my comparison does not compare apples with apples so take it with a pinch of salt.As a new BDS convert I forgot about the skull waves & cow skulls which as stated would be a much better comparison but I have not seen any available anywhere where, they seem to be even more difficult to aquire then the dub cons & dragons which I was able to get on fleabay.
But if like me you are finding BDS wheels to hard to aquire then the black rain is a worthy alternative.

i can't offer comparison but I can support that Rainskates has a fast, grippy wheel in the 100A Stinger 63mm single con
it's the only wheel i ride [thumb]
