Yes, very hard to accept even now. Thanks to the efforts and demands from the victims families and survivors, they pressured the administration to conduct an investigation which also led to the hearings in which all of the truth about the "blindness" to evidence that we now understand. If it had not been for theseffamilies, the real truth would never had been revealed. Ironically, what most of the families wanted was an apology from the administration and govt for not being honest about the early Intel that could've stopped all of it from happening. In a surprise statement on live tv and during the hearings, it was only Richard Clarke who was man enough to apologize for their inadequaticies and failed oversights as a govt and protector of its people's, etc. there's a documentary about the 9/11 findings from a couple of years back called, 'on native soil'-excellent doc

It's because of this tragedy that we''re a safer nation, but what a cost we paid.

Never forget.  From my brother's apartment window the morning of:
[WTC_091101_zpsgwj33mkw]

And four days later when they were allowed to be escorted in to grab essentials:
[WTC_091501_zpsoxe9rgel]
In the first picture, that's landing gear and an airplane tire on fire on the street level below one of the towers.  My brother, his wife, and their 7 month old son (at the time) lived in the closest residential building to the towers on Rector Place.  Same building that Christopher Walken lived in.  I remembering the concern for their well-being (he worked in the towers some days, just not that day).  I remember the relief when he called and said they were alright.  I remember them trying to get out of New Jersey after walking from lower Manhattan to be ferried across the Hudson River and not being able to buy tickets on Amtrak as the line was hours long.  I remember driving them back up on Friday and staying overnight in a hotel in Brooklyn...his wife wanting to get back to the hospital (calling was out of the question as all or most phone lines were down) to help as much as possible (she's an ER doctor), only to be told there were no injured - take off as much time as necessary since they were displaced.

Not implying my concerns are greater than anyone else's, just a slightly different take on what is obviously a tragic day in our country's history.

I have no pictures, but my brother was teaching a class in Brooklyn; he and his students watched as the towers fell. The events of that day have affected us all, but those that lived in the area have a chilling perspective that we cannot understand.

I was at work, saw the first tower in flames on the way out the door then answered the phone as a couple co workers called in "sick" because they saw the 2nd plane hit and wanted to hunker down for the WWIII what was certain to break out immediately.

I asked my wife to hit record on the DVR and made a 6 hour DVD of the raw happenings as they happened on regular TV that awful day.

I'm glad WE got the SOB that funded and planned it along with most of his dirt bag friends.

Enough politics though.

I've still got a newspaper the day after this happened to show my children when they got older, my son was 3 at the time and my daughter not yet born. The headline of the paper said "The day the world changed". I've been about 10 minutes thinking what next to write but words fail me.

I saw something really neat today.  I saw a father walking down the sidewalk with his 4-5 year old son and the son was wearing a fire fighter outfit, plastic helmet and all.  They were about a half a block away from the fire station heading that direction.  Betting the first responders there were delighted to meet that little guy.  Props to dad for picking today of all days to do that :-)
