Just ordered a sweet looking one of these.  Advertised as WARPED, but I'd never ride anything signed anyway.  I do prefer to display my stuff as looking ridable though so she will get some trucks, wheels, and grip tape before getting her spot on the living room wall.  Great ideas here for the grip.  I'm thinking some kind of rising sun effect, perhaps around a Dogtown sticker of some kind?  Or just straight up rising sun bursting out from the center.

You folks probably remember this warped deck.  Mike certainly would.

I think most of the Shogo Pineapple decks came with factory grip.  Do you know that the one you're getting is not gripped?

The photos from the eBay listing show the top bare with a red painted rectangle, says never gripped, or set up..  Photo I posted above is the actual deck.

NoSwitch - The value of that deck is that it Hasn't been set up, just thought you should know that before you get busy throwing trucks on it. The decks came supplied with a die cut piece of grip tape with a dragon on it, which it appears that you are missing.

Thanks Tony.  I'm fully aware that making changes reduces resale value.  I'm not the least bit concerned.  I haven't sold any of my skateboards since the early 80s.  I buy them when I see something I like for whatever reason.  If I decide I no longer want to keep one I give it away rather than be hassled with selling, shipping, worrying about whether the buyer is happy or not after the transaction, etc.  The new owner is always happy when I give it to them for free.  Not likely to give this one away anytime soon though.  I will also be covering up the "To Mike" with a sticker or completely removing it with acetone unless "Mike" happens to be Mike McGill hahaha..  Pretty sure Mike is another member here who got the deck directly from Wes.

^^^^[rofl]

That's hilarious and actually, on the serious side, a sticker lightly over that part is probably better than removing it entirely.

I feel weird owning a deck that was clearly a personal gift to someone else.  I didn't notice the photo with the nose writing until after I pulled the trigger.  Must have been a hard choice for Mike to make to let go of this deck.  No clue about the back story there, none of my business, but I could probably be understanding if they wanted to work out something to get it back somewhere down the road.. I do still plan to set it up in (barely) ridable condition this week and hang it with my 80s-90s stuff.  Don't have any 00s wall hangers so that's the closest grouping with room.. Have Alva stuff, 70s stuff, and 80s-90s stuff sectioned off.  FWIW I will put red Slammers on it and green Gullwings with red 1/8th inch risers.. to protect the graphics instead of bare metal against them.  Still undecided on the grip.  Might [eek] ride it "real slow in the driveway" for 5 minutes before hanging it up..

Anyway, thanks for the laugh.  I needed it.. Sometimes this place seems too uptight for my preference.  I don't come here all that often because of that.  Most folks are chill but one or two are way too busy body control freaks for my taste.  I've never put anyone on ignore interacting in dozens of forums and moderating some big ones.  This place is a little too much locals only vibe to me but still like to drop in here once in awhile anyway to check out the cool gear.

Peace to all.
