I got into it in the late 90's at Mt. high then big bear & then went to Mammoth....  That Place is Awesome & was like surfing down the the Mountain with big white Sprat off every turn I freakin Loved IT!    then a little thing called divorced clipped the crap out of my wallet & I haven't been back...yet I hope....

I caught an edge flying down at max speed (for Me) & did 5 or 6 cart wheels bouncing off my head them board over & over & when I stopped & sat in the snow laughing that if I was on a Skate Board & done that I would be so Dead!

Wes, so it must have been a powder day then?

That is definitely the upside, when you beef it, you can escape injury most times.
Also, yes, Mammoth is the shit. I've only boarded there once, but remember it well.

Traded two planks for one a few years back, but even though my folks have a house in Tahoe City, I am the only one that likes to go in the winter...........Well my mom does, but she HATES snowborders.............
I do hate the cost though!  I could buy something cool for what a lift ticket costs!
Though Homewood has a great little mountain and great rates and is very family friendly.

we'll be taking the kids again this winter.
they seemed to enjoy it last year.
trying to get the kids trying all sorts of stuff.
snowboarding, surfing, martial arts...you know,
all the traditional "sports".

Traditional California sports!

Yeah Wes, that spring snow can be soft as well. The powder is like surfing on the land, obstacles (when seen) are like sections of the wave that need negotiation!

 SNOW

I live in a place where if you want to see snow you drive an hour. You can then enjoy it and leave it behind by driving out of the mountains. So you don't have to live in it for months and months at a time!!! It's all relative, it gets too hot in the summer, the Bay has nicer weather but its expensive and has those pesky earthquakes just waiting to happen.

I live in a place where if you want to see snow, you drive for about 15 hours straight through and then say WTF am I doing here when its 90 back home.....turn around and haul ass back....

Yea that place is Awesome,  my friend is on the US Ski Team & that's where they practices...  Mammoth can get like "fresh snow" just from the wind blowing the old snow around....     a guy I was going up with had friend's that lived there year round that were geologist & usta tell us all kinds of crazy stories about the weather up there....

Mammoth is epic, my folks had a place there and I went from the time I was 4yrs old. been up there the last 3 seasons for a couple of days, last yr scoring 18" of fresh powder and being one of the first off the top. made some of my best turns of the season on 3 runs before the powder was blown out by other powder hounds. Mammoth is nice but tahoe is so much closer. kirkwood pass for me this yr, for $329 figure if I go 20 days it's less then $17/day. woohoo

yeah...but they don't let you pay $17 each time you go, do they?
it's the upfront $$ that hurts.
gonna be real expensive per session if ya only go 5 times...

I assure you that won't be the case, got in 16 without the pass last yr. I won't miss to many powder days!
