It is obvious the ASP can not handle the truth. Fucking Tennis, that was classic.

I don't really keep up with all this ASP shit except once in a while to see how my friends from back home are doing, or if they're even still on it. But to get  booted for "Rule breach of Article 151 -- Damage to Surfings Image" for speaking out against some new rules and higher fines borrowed from Pro Tennis validates his whole point, good for you Bobby, fuck the ASP!

Only MY humble feelings......fuck Martinez! I have no problem with dissent or criticism. It's like speaking out against the wrongs in this country. Ignoring them does no one any good. BUT, it can be done in a civil manner. I would be the first one in line at an anti war protest BUT, there is no way I could stand by and watch someone burn a flag or disrupt a fallen soldier's funeral.

Again, Bobby may be a great guy and 100% right but he didn't represent himself well.....

It's disappointing to see an elite level athlete throw down dis-respect to the very thing that provided them with the opportunities they've had.  BM rips and should have channeled his anger into the heaving waves at Chopes and the rest of the tour. Why didn't he just let his surfing do the talking?  He could have made that choice.

Instead he blew off Chopes and look what he missed, all time legendary waves and event. He would have been favored to win had he been there as well.

Is he letting the system have it by ranting his opinion when his ability would allow him to surf Snapper, Bells, J-Bay, Chopes, Fiji, Trestles, Mundaka, etc. with one other guy in the lineup and make $$ at it?  He will probably not experience that again.

Why didn't he voice this a year ago when they announced the change to the one world ranking?  He had plenty of opportunity to have his opinions heard and he's got all the ability and resource to make it at the highest level.

Pros have complained about the tour/contest sytem since its earliest inception. It's fair enough...if you see something you think is wrong, speak out about it. Or do something positive to make the changes you think necessary.
I wish I had the talent to make my living surfing or skating. But I don't. So Mr. Martinez should count his blessings that he does. I know there is alot of time and effort put into the whole thing but the wrong roll of the dice could have landed him a normal job. And he'd bitch about that too.Get a grip Bob. you get to see the world and make your living on a toy.
The disrespect towards the "old guys" is a bit much too. Those old guys paved the way for you just like the old guys before them did. Bring on the new but don't forget you'll be old one day too. Alot of people went through alot of bullshit so that you could pull on those jerseys and wow the crowd big boy.
Get on or get off, but don't stand at the bus stop bitching about the bus route. Catch a cab and get on with your life.
