They finally got some surf to start up the x3 crown. Last couple years has seen it pretty tough for the opening leg of of the event. It started off with a bang and double to triple overhead surf on Wed with sizable surf yesterday and hoping for more to fill in for today.

The ASP seems to own it all now and the broadcast is live on the aspworldtour website......

JJ is out until Sunset with a hamstring pull. Slater is out until Pipe with broken toes and I think Medina is sitting out and sulking in a corner somewhere since he failed to wrap up the title at the last two events.

The Reef Pro is still trying to finish up round two and then start round three where all the top seeds will make an entrance. It would hve been great to see how the top pros did in the huge surf of opening day....

Just back from 2 weeks in Maui. Watched a lot of both the Sunset and Haleiwa events on OC 16- they show live and reruns 24 hrs/day. Big risks, big falls. Hopefully Fanning can pull it out at Pipe. Have sat next to too many Brazzos in the water to ever cheer for them.
On a more cheerful note, took the two biggest beatings of my life at Hookipa last week, once when my leash broke first wave of an outside cleanup set. Was done for the day after that one.
