Welcome back, Laterskater!

Take it easy and it will come back to you....can you get to a pool or hot tub and stretch and swim? I dislocated my knee last sept 10th and I'm just getting back to normal.

Thanks again guys!  I skated for the second time today!  It was about the same result,  although I tried to run one out and my leg collapsed throwing me into a summer Sault.  No injury or pain,  so it was a good day.  God,  I'm out of shape now!

BigPapa - I've talked to my parents and they said I can stay at there house till I get rolling,  so that part is ready to go.  I've been looking on line for jobs and that situation is looking promising.  I have a Dr. appointment on the 29th to see how my recovery is coming.  I can tell its finally starting to get more strength,  so I'm hopeful for a full recovery.  If that is the case,  then I just have to tie up some loose ends out here like the job and the house I rent.  Next I'll be selling off  all of my wall hangers to finance the u-haul and auto trailer and some short term storage. Thats no biggy to me,  I'm keeping all my riders though.  I figure once I get out there I'll be able to ride more and stand around looking at my collection less.  I can't put a definite time on it due to my recovery,  but if all goes like I think it will,  I'd say maybe 2 to 3 months at most.  I'd like to have a job ready and waiting when I get there.  I don't think I would want to stay with my parents more than a month.  Shit I left there at the age of 15 and never came back.  It will be trippy as hell staying there.  This has been a tough decision for me.  I have a pretty good life out here as far as work and living situation are concerned,  but if I have no real Friends that I can relate with and nowhere to ride my skate,  that is'nt much of a life.  Shit nobody out here even knows what good punk rock is!  I'd like to get a very casual band going when I get back,  maybe roust old Arab back into playing.  I want to play just one more punk show before I die!  I belong in SoCal.  Getting back into skating has made that VERY clear to me.  Its time I start going out and having a life again.  Time to quit running.  I'm tired and I want to come home!  So,  SOON AS POSSIBLE!

Dave...you have my prayers and my very best wishes as you move back.  My son was the leader of a punk rock band....they used to practice in my living room so they wouldn't disturb the neighbors using the guarage.  I got to liking punk rock, and he is now a preacher.  I listen to the pop rock channels and he listens to more mellow music.  I skateboard and he doesn't anymore.  The other day he said to me.......Dad, I grew up and you grew down."

You never know who will change the most.  I hope maybe your parents have grown up a little since you left. I also hope you find the friends that you need.  I could use some like you here, but I wouldn't wish that on you.  Then there would be a total of two adult skaters in Alabama. Your friend.....Oli/glidenhi

Hahaha!  Cool what do you play Huck?

Now I'm telling you,  I was NEVER even a descent surfer!  I was always stoked just to get the bottom turn and stay on the face for any amount of time.  Are the cliffs as empty as they used to be?   Cause I would'nt want to subject Innocent people to that spectacle!  If a young kid saw that,  it could put him off surfing forever.  I specialized in the after surf activities.

ill sing or drums? whichever, id prefer to sing.

dave boy are you in for a shock, the cliffs, and everyspot on the cali coast is always crowded, theres no such place like you remember, i have been pining for old huntington forever. thats my biggest complaint is all the transplants that have moved in and become instant locals, not even adding water. too many barneys! i know what your remembering, the cliffs at 6-8 foot shorebreak, with barrels, well since all the storms previous, the sand bars are wiped away, remeber 17th street, where you had to jump down the wall to hit the sand, well now its just a step, thats how much sand has came up. its still nice but nothing like paradise we used to experience.

almost everytime out its easy to get into a fight, especially having grown up at gw all my life, and ruling it with a few friends. god i miss the old days. bring em back.

I hav'nt been to the cliffs in years.  I know I don't recognize the downtown area anymore.  It looks like all the old dilapidated surf shacks are long gone.  There used to be some killer parties in there.  Beach Blvd. looks like fucking downtown LA too.  Yep it'll be a far different place then I left all those years ago.

I'll play the drums,  its my only talent!  Do you have enough P.A. for jamming?
