My tape job on the Chief (dark green bottom). Enlarged the skulls in the deck design to arrive at what you see here!

Nice one Give2live!That's some precision cutting skills. Some paint on the deck would highlight the design but I guess you wanted the skulls to be bone color - maybe white? One of the coolest I've seen.

Thanks for the kudos!

Ouch: Yours came out flawless! Mine was little off-center. But I understand the sentiment, some of the grip jobs I've seen on here are just mind blowing- not to mention how long some of the designs would take to pull off!

alvadude7: Paint indeed would've made the design stand out more. I'm hoping for the weathered look- I figure after two years or so, dirt will coat the inside edges for a more authentic tribal look.

Comments: I originally thought that the top of the deck was also going to be stained and as such had a raven totem pole design cut out before the deck arrived. Because of the nude wood color, I realized the design I had wasn't going to cut it- the "balance" wasn't there for me. Granted, peoples that had totem poles as part of their culture is a different group than the design of the Chief (plains tribes?) but it *could've* worked.

It finally dried up enough today that I was able to take it out for a spin. It feels vastly different than the Q12 - Bulldog could start selling boards with a description system used for wines... there are different personalities, vibes, feel, etc. I'm trying my darnedest not to get sucked into building a lot of riders- my cycling past-time is expensive enough!

Cheers!

Couldn't take the color combos on my green Chief rider. So I gave it to my 7 year old son.Called Merlin, who sent me a sweet navy blue Chief.

All is well in the universe now;

Chief

Candy Red Shogos

Ultrathanes Dubs, dyed navy, but left them in too long,so they look black.

Ceramic Rockets

All the pre-requisite bones(notice the 9.0 yellow tail bone, from my northlands brother. Thanks Rey)

My OCD has now subsided.

Here's how to grip and paint a Z13 - 1st Gen

Set up with a Webb Shogo at the back and a Webb Smith up front. Various Mini Dubs according to terrain, and a full set of plastic.

Yo Dowgs,

Nice setups!

I've posted my setup here twice; and for some reason or another they've been removed.

Maybe the third times a charm.

Lets see if this post gets removed.

Sorry if I'm being paranoid  but like I said...

The Bulldog sent me a sweet yellow Chief rider and some Mellow Yellow dubs.  I have a few sets of Rockets and Khiro wedges on the shelf, so I just need to pick up some trucks and I'm off and running. Thinking Grind Kings JA's for this ride.

Thanks for all the setup info here - now just to make some cool tape effects so my board won't look so lame compared to the rest here.

Does anybody else have a hard time riding The Chief?  Mine is extremely flat, almost no concave, and I find the tail is too slight for me which even may exagerrate the flatness of the board.  I'm not trying to be negative, I just know that Wes is constantly changing his designs, so he my input might be useful in that regard.  I'm curious if anyone else has the same idea.  I just think I would be riding the Chief a lot more if it had a deeper concave and had more of an angle on the kick.  I love the dimensions and shape.

It depends on what you like in a deck. More or less concave or kick.
My current ride is the SS Flat Pig. Dead flat no concave and even mellower kick than the Z13. And I love it. Its not for everyone thats for sure.

I guess it's all in what you like.  Armando loves the Chief.  I'm going to give it some more time in the near future.  It's just I'm having a hard time staying on it.  Armando suggests using the rocker design to more effect and moving my foot back a bit, which I'll try.  I've got to dig down into some old school physics.

Guess I'll leave it at that as I feel like I'm hijacking the thread with much more of this.
