Another well used deck, especially the top but an amazing color. Transparency would make it Zephyr -Flex era, I reckon. Any thoughts as to whether the Z flex stickers are likely to be original or a later addition?
Thanks

laurie, zephyrs were always sold without decals so there's always the chance someone picked up z-flex ones at a later date. the swan-neck / drop-tail means it came out of the zephyr mold - whether it was made whilst kent was still with the zephyr guys or had just gone solo is kind of immaterial. and, like wes, i'm starting to itch too!!!

lol, could be either as per my post. that's why history on boards is all important especially these.

I'm thinking it's more Z-flex than Zephyr... The original Zephyr reds were more maroon and not really red. Stacey's Zephyr from the Northern California Pro-Am at the Cow Palace is a perfect example.

Hey Steve, I'm surprised by your comment, "zephyrs were always sold without decals".  I've seen a few Zephyrs with og stickers over the years (i.e., Laurie's orange Zephyr, p.130 in Disposable).  I would guess many or maybe even most were not sold with stickers, but I would doubt "always".
Now, the Zephyr-Flex boards, on the other hand, never came with stickers that I'm aware of.  Which would make sense, as I believe these were made after Kent and Jeff Ho/Zephyr parted ways.  And as you know from the old Zephyr-Flex ads, they were offered in "5 transparent colors", and introduced the "new kick tail model".  IMO, this red Z would have been made during the Zephyr-Flex era or just after they changed the name to Z-Flex but obviously before they switched to opaque pigments.

I heard around the LODT time there was a guy in FL with one of these molds & remaking them maybe for the movie, did anyone hear that?

So the chances are the transparent Zephyr-flex decks (my personal favourite) have no stickers, which sort of makes sense as I have never seen a Zephyr-flex sticker. Anyone got an orange ZF deck?
I have owned a couple of LODT prop decks. They are nothing like the originals, very heavy, gelcoat finish and with a very blunt, round nose. Could never really work out why they did not get the shape right - legal/copyright issues?

I know a couple of year's ago, the Skatelab in Atlantic Bch. Fl here had the mold for Jimmy Plumer's deck, when it shut down i'm sure T. Huber took it back to Cali...I know the guy who gave it the Todd, he gave it a shot at make a board with the mold, but I think the results were less than favorable because of cold weather at the time....
