Hey I've always wondered something about those old zephyr setups. Maybe one of you here can help me out. Were the truck mount holes drilled completely through with the trucks mounted using bolts? Or were the trucks mounted with screws screwed into the board?
Thanks

I would think, through bolts like modern decks. Maybe only slightly smaller thread size, like early decks tended to have.

I remember drilling some but I got them from Kent...  but they may have been the 1st board with holes drilled...  it's a solid 1/2" of fiberglass....

That's exactly why I wondered.  Also I've always been curious exactly when the switch to bolts was.
Thanks for the info guys.

probably around the time real trucks were starting to be made,  as opposed to the modified rollerskate setup.........    I'm sure it completely depended on what you had available to you or what you had the money for

My zephyr is drilled all the way through, just like a regular board.

Yeah I've seen them drilled all the way through, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they were originally set up that way. It's possible that folks drilled them out sometime later.
From what you guys are telling me it sounds like there might have been a little of both depending on the owner of the board.
Everything I've seen tells me that they individual decks were sold undrilled. Anyone know if that's correct?

Oh, damn. My bad, all the Zephyrs are drilled, not the z-flex.

Here's a couple more, Zephyr undrilled, but Z-flex drilled. Who knows ???

I asked Kent if they drilled there boards from the start....

"Most of the decks we sold we drilled but  A few shops preferred to drill their own.  Flathead screws with nuts were used.  Didn't have to worry about grip tape as texture was molded into the decks.
Kent"

I heard when the LODT movie was being made that there was someone making them,  they found or bought a mold & had made some for the movie?
