Word is he was highly allergic and stung by a bee or wasp... Very sad.
Rest in peace and roll in peace, my man.

If that is correct that really is a tragedy. I would have thought that someone with a severe allergy like that would carry something for immediate attention if the worst occurred.
RIP Andy, I know that New York skaters will miss you greatly.

DAMN..That is a real shame, he will be truly missed.
One of the nicest guys around. Sad, sad news.
Being a skater from Jersey in the 70's, I had heard about Andy but never met him. Hard core, New Yorker, etc you know how rumors and stories are past on. I had the chance to finally meet him when he showed up at Sayreville one afternoon. We talked about old skatespots, the old Jersey crew and the rest of "back in the day" stuff.
Just like Sean Miller of the 1980's , Andy's "rep" of a hard ass was so overly exaggerated it was almost funny. I found him laid back and warm, letting his skating do most of the talking for him.
I was lucky enough to have Armando invite me to Andy's birthday party at the Autumn Bowl back when he was recovering from a really bad injury. Through Andy couldn't skate, it didn't stop him from hanging and having a good time with the rest of the crew.
An East Coast icon for sure... Our Tony Alva from the NorthEast.

| This is untimely news. I knew Andy from back in the early 80s. At the Old Man Jam at Owl's Head last year he was still ripping it up. I'll miss you, Andy. R.I.P. |
