A friend of mine owns this deck, and I was wondering if anyone might know anything about it that I could pass along...?  ...one off? cheap copy...?  Proto...? Firewood...? Buehler...?  Buehler...?  He loves the damn thing, that's the most important part... I was just wondering if there might be a story with it... if anyone has seen this deck.

Black Leather Racing ? Dunno, reminds me of guys like Dave Hackett and Steve Olson, slalom racing in black leather outfit with funny goggles and stuff...

There are a few guys that make up BLR. Hackett and Olson are two. Hackett also was part of this round of Deathbox and skates for Osiris. I cannot remember all of the shapes that Deathbox put out but that could be a proto. Most of their production boards had a name of the skater and size displayed near the tail.Their site is still up but no products are made any longer. You may be able to go through the ad archive and find what deck that is/was.Looks like a pretty decent shape.

One million comedians out of work and there you are trying to be funny... ...  THANKS KNOCK KNOCK...   I guess I shoulda clarified.  I was wondering if this particular deck is an official product of BLR.  Was it a production board, Team rider, etc?

I dont think that BLR ever had official products. It was more about attitude and approach.

It looks like one of Hackett's boards he used down at Indian School. He had a few hand painted/stenciled boards over the years.

That's just a tag on that board, BLR is a team name. (Hackett induced)

Sorry for the delay ... that is Hackett's pro-type deck!  That is the standard Hack Man air brush paint job.  I have a similar colored version on an Iron Cross pro-type.  Your deck is a pro-type and has been raced by Hack!  Black Leather racing (BLR) is a gnarly group .... they ride around in a beat up van.  The goal is to have the shittiest van possible so you dont have to lock down at the beach ... no would would dare steal a van so ungodly ugly!  Also ... van carries an aircraft carrier sized surf board to show that in the van are OLD Guys wearing BLR t-shirts!

Ps .. shape kinda reminds me of a Deathbox Wentzle Rummel.  Again a pro-type so no production deck will be exactly the same.  Cool score!

The deck or the Crappy Van with aircraft surfboard.  The van about $2,000... the surfboard to Heavy to lift off the top so add another $75 to the van price for the complete.  Seatbelts optional and don't be concerned by the bong water scent.  It's natural scent in SoCal LOL
